Can anyone tell me the length and width of the black plastic base where I could put a plate?

The correct plate measurement would be 2.5" wide by 1.75" high.

What about engraving? can I request this?

I don't believe they do their own engraving but just measure the face of it, I think it's 3 in by 2 in or something like that, and then order it from a engraving company they will send you a little plate it's like $10

A plate should be no bigger than 2.5” wide. I ordered a 3” one and it’s too big.
