Great helmet! Bright, highly visible color. Comfortable.
Love this helmet. Comfortable. Light. And yellow color great for safety - very visible to vehicles. Easy to adjust fit with knob in back; can easily loosen or tighten even while riding. Easy adjustment important to me given range of things I wear under helmet - doo rag, baclava, or brimmed hat depending on time of year / temperature. Re: helmet color and safety: I average more than 5000 miles riding per year and see a lot of other cyclists out on the road - the two helmet colors that are most visible to me are orange and yellow. Prior to owning this helmet, I felt a need to wear jerseys / vests / jackets with at least some fluorescent yellow to enhance my visibility. With this yellow helmet (along with a blinking red light hooked on my rear saddle bag and brightly colored shoes), I feel like I can choose the rest of my cycling kit (jersey and shorts) without regard to effect of their color on my visibility and safety โ Update sept 2019 - this helmet saved my life. I had a bad bike accident. Going 25 mph, caught front tire in a โhiddenโ crack in road shoulder - and went flying. Landed hard on left side of head and body from shoulder down to ankle. Four broken ribs, road rash up and down left side , massive hip hematoma with liter of blood drained in ER. But head ok. Helmet dented in multiple places on left side but no head damage / no concussion systems. Thank you, Giro

Lightweight and nice features
I've been using the Savant for two months for my daily commute to work (13 miles round trip) and recently on a longer 32-mile trail ride. It has been lightweight, comfortable, and the airflow is very good. Fit and finish are good, and there isn't anything on the inside of the helmet that pokes my head or causes discomfort. The strap adjusters and click-wheel on the back make it easy to get a good, snug fit. Also, I think it looks good. I have the Red/Black in medium and the matte finish is nice. I have a 2007 Trek 1000 road bike, and the colors match pretty well. :) It's true that the Savant costs more than some of the lower-end "budget" helmets, but in my experience it's worth the extra money. If you're looking for a lightweight helmet with some higher-end features, but you don't want to pay higher-end prices, then try the Savant. However, if you can't justify spending the extra money on the Savant, then try the Bell Lumen instead. My wife has a medium in Blue/White. It's a little heavier, not quite as sleek, and the ventilation isn't quite as good as the Savant, but it has similar features for less money.

Nice helmet, slightly annoying straps.
I bought this helmet because I needed an affordable, comfortable, and breathable road cycling helmet. I like the look, feel, ventilation in this helmet, as well as the adaptability of the RocLock 5 system. The only downside of this helmet is that the straps don't fit or feel great. I had trouble getting them to lie flat against my head around my ears and the nylon is not high quality, but I did manage to adjust it so that it's pretty comfortable. As I understand this is a pretty common complaint for people with this helmet. That being said, I'd buy it again because of the affordability factor. I recommend this helmet for anyone who is new to road-cycling, or who doesn't want to drop hundreds of dollars on a slightly better helmet.

Great helmet, big enough for my watermelon head.
It took me a while to be able to find a helmet that could actually fit my head. I am a 7 1/2 baseball hat size, and it can get even bigger. I went to different local stores and after trying at least 15 different helmets I found this one but the price was 140 dlls. I looked for it on amazon and ta daa. The price was definitely better, so I went and ordered from . I can only say I really love this helmet. It fits really nice around my head and the straps are really comfortable too. Straps adjust up and down around your head. Besides the straps , the helmet has another adjustment to tight the top of helmet to the head, which makes it fit snug but with worrying you might lose it. The ventilation is also great with the amount of openings it has. I would really recommend it to people with large heads, I even trying some of the Fox helmets thinking it might fit, but I had to return it and get this awesome helmet from Giro.

Doesn't breathe too well
I have a Giro Encinal II LIVESTRONG helmet in black, and I was looking for something lighter, and also for something in a lighter / more visible color. I found a good set of images on zappos showing the BRIGHT GREEN / SILVER helmet from all angles. It looked very visible to me. Since the Savant is higher in the line than the Encinal II, it has more vents and weighs less. When the helmet arrived from amazon, it looked good. I took some pictures, side by side, with the Encinal II. The Savant seemed to be very "reflective" when the camera's flash hit it. It felt good on my head, when I tried it on. One look in the mirror, and I could see that the Savant gave me more of the dreaded "mushroom head" look compared to the Encinal II. The vents on the Encinal II may have been fewer in number, but they are larger. After two extended rides with the Savant, I can say that it does not ventilate as well as the Encinal II either. The Savant is lighter on my head, but it doesn't breath as well, and that is a trade off I'm not willing to accept. My girlfriend has a Giro Atmos Road/Racing Bike Helmet in Pink (looks more purple to me) with Rhone flowers. That helmet has HUGE vents but gives me the dreaded "mushroom head" look I'm trying to avoid. It looks fine on her, because her head is different than mine. I have a long, slender face. Most bike helmets don't look great on me, but my Encinal II does. Unfortunately, it is now discontinued. I will look into helmets from the RUDY project and Bontrager. It is unfortunate that amazon doesn't carry either brand :(

Lightweight and easy to adjust
I went to the local bike shop and sporting goods store and tried on every helmet they had in the store. This model was the most comfortable on my head and was the easiest to adjust. Even those annoying straps that go around your ears didn't bother me as much as the straps on the cheaper entry level helmets did. My head is pretty big and I ended up getting a size Medium. If you go to the Giro website they have a good sizing chart you can use, but I'd strongly suggest going to a local store at least to try out the sizing. The best part of this helmet is the little wheel on the back that you can use to tighten or loosen the helmet on your head. You can tell that this little part is made much better than the cheap dial on the entry level helmets. I haven't yet crashed and had to test how protective this helmet is, but I'm very happy with the fit, the look, and the price paid on Amazon (about 30% less than the local bike shop)

Quality Helmet
The seller was Wheel Traders. The helmet was delivered 3 days after ordering. The production date inside the helmet is Oct. 2014, so it was made within 4 months of receiving it. It came in the original product box shipped inside an exterior carton. It weighs 260g and is in perfect condition. The color is correct. The straps adjusted easily to a comfortable ear position for me. The straps of my old helmet, a Bontrager Quantum, adjust about the same as the Savant. The straps on both helmets will lay flat if adjusted properly and the straps are worn with little or no slack under the chin. The leftover strap is longer on the Savant than the Quantum and has to be double backed through the strap loop or trimmed. For now, I just loop the excess strap back. The Savant weighs 86g less than the Quantum, which has a visor. Take the visor off the Quantum and the difference is about 68g. The Savant vents air much better than the Quantum does. I consider the Savant an excellent buy. It is very well made and so far is exceeding my expectations.

Great Design & Fit
I purchased this helmet after purchasing a road bike and wanted something with good ventilation, style and fit. The Savant is a great looking helmet and the "Roc Loc 5 Fit System" and what Giro describes as "Wind tunnel ventilation with 25 vents" make this a good purchase. It's kind of difficult to purchase something without being able to try it on. When I measured my head, I was right at cutoff between large and extra large. I went ahead and purchased the size large helmet and with the Roc Loc 5 Fit System found that it adjusted for a perfect fit. It took me forever to get the straps at an equal length but the fit of the strap itself below my chin was fine. I didn't experience any issues with the strap not laying flat or digging into my scalp. The ventilation is really good and I actually like the way it looks on my head which is definitely un-dorky. Good bicycle helmets can get expensive quickly as the aerodynamics becomes more important and I was glad to find this helmet at a good price point and feel that it is a good value.
