Hi yes it does, I use it with a canon T3, T6, and 7D. using 18-55 , 70-200 70--300 canon lens, all with a lens hood.

can it mount on a tripod?

Yes. It has not only a quick release boot but the ability to add whatever quick release from your specific tripod easily allowing you to attach or detach the rig quickly. Good Luck.

In my opinion, the red/blue makes it look cheap/amateur. Why isn't there an all black option?
