The Best of The Proclaimers

As with The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, The Clash and many more, I first heard '500 Miles' on the radio. In less than a minute I thought,"WHO are these giys...?!" The song jumped out of my radio and my foot and butt were moving without giving it a thought...wow.REAL music--pure emotion, energy, and so needed in the world today, JOY, unabashed joy. The boys harmonies are so clean, their songwriting interesting and well crafted--except for a couple of duds (I never liked 'King of the Road'--even when it was a hit 40 years ago) the CD is packed with pretty songs and upbeat mood-changers. I bought it for '500 Miles' (the louder the better!)and have played that song at least once a day for the last week or so, but there gems all over this CD. You can't lose!

I heard the song, "I'm Gonna Be 500 Miles" as the credits rolled for a film I watched. I loved the staccato of the beat. It took some time to find out who sang the song. I finally found it w/ the help of a Borders assoc. Then I had my stroke and when I recovered, my CD was not to be found and of course, I didn't know who sang the song I loved so much. Finally, I found the CD but it was damaged and I ordered another from Amazon.com. This CD has other songs I love, too. I love the Irish accent that comes through, too. Now I am a happy camper.

I purchased this cd for the song "Im On My Way" which I first heard on the movie Shrek. I like upbeat music and liked the upbeat songs. As for the slower ones, some I liked and some I didn't care for. I'm glad that I purchased this cd though because there are some good songs on it. I'm not much of a music critic because the music I listen to the most are the "oldies but goodies" and some music from the late 40s. :)

My earlier review claimed this is not The Proclaimers. I based this solely on listening to one track, the WRONG track. I was primarily interested in hearing "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)," and, glancing at the listing on the back of the case, noticed it was the last track --- or so I thought. As it turned out, an hour ago, I put the CD again and found that "I'm Gonna Be" is the fourth track, and the track I played was a comic relief version of that number. I apologize sincerely for my error, and, needless to say, I ask my previous review be deleted. The CD is all I hoped for, and then some. Thank you ever so much.

As Matt Lucas puts it on the CD jacket: it makes me laugh, it makes me cry, it makes me generally euphoric. This is an awesome collection. If you are not already a fan, you will be. The mix is perfect. I got so hooked. I own all of their CD's, but this one makes it easy to hear it all in one place. The notes these guys hit and the harmony they achieve is unmatchable. You will laugh, cry, sing along and smile a lot. You won't be sorry. From "Letter from America" to "Let's Get Married". You just can't get enough.

I love this CD, worth every penny and then some. Even my 15 year old son gets into it. When I pop it in to play it instantly puts me in a really good mood with a surge of energy. My son tells me they played several selections every day at Boy Scouts camp last summer to get the kids fired up.

Well priced , good delivery time. These Proclaimers are very good---just try it, it is different. My music collection is from the 50's to date---NO RAP !!I purchased this CD through AMAZON, as I do for many of my purchases.

Unfortunately this CD was damaged and skips halfway through my favourite song...To look at there are no visible scratches so the seller was not to know unless they had listened to the entire CD, but a shame nonetheless!

My old banger hasn’t got Bluetooth so still use my CD player ! Volume high down the M6 and made the journey more enjoyable 👍

Great collection of songs from the twins. More than enough here for the casual fan, good sound quality and no duff tunes. Excellent :)

Really I have only just discovered the PROCLAIMERS and this album proved an ideal place to start.Strong melodies, stirring lyrics which also make you think .Most surprising,to me at least ,they write touching love songs. The item came almost by return post and in impeccable condition,

Good product at a sensible price.
