Very nostalgic... but sticky.
Had to have these for the nostalgia factor. They're good.I wish I could say that my experience with them was perfect, but somewhere along the line, a bottle must have broken. Some liquid candy was smeared all over the inside of the bag I received.I just rinsed them off with cold water, patted them dry, and put them in a ziploc bag... No harm done. Just a minor annoyance that was resolved in a few minutes. The leaking bottle wasn't in the bag I received, so I'm assuming it must've happened on the assembly line before they were bagged. If you've had wax bottle candy before, then you pretty much know what you're in for already. The liquid candy tastes good, but the wax is bland. I just spit the wax out after a few good chews. There's artificial dyes in this, of course... They've been in the news recently so I figured I would mention it in case that's a major concern to anyone. It's a good value for the money if you're looking for that nostalgia hit like me. Be prepared for the possibility of a sticky situation though.

Nostalgic
Having the wax bottles was certainly nostalgic, but it also reminded me why I rarely ate them as a child. First, it's the warmer months, and the candy was packaged in an envelope. It should have been packaged in a box to minimize the chance of the bottles getting squished and leaking. I had a sticky mess on my hands when I got them, with pretty much all the bottles stuck to each other, and many had leaked their contents. I threw them in the freezer for a little while before trying them. It's fun to bite the top off the bottle and drink the contents. The wax gets stuck to your teeth, and it doesn't taste great, so that's unpleasant. After trying a few, it becomes annoying. Eventually, it becomes tedious to get a sip of liquid out of all the bottles. It's pretty expensive for just a half-pound, too. If you want something fun and a throwback to share with family or friends, this would be a good thing to share. Beyond the nostalgia, just skip it.

90's maybe, 70's not as I remember them being
OK, these may be like the bottles from the 1990s, but they're not like the ones from the 1970s, at least not as I rememberThe bottles have a powerful paraffin wax taste. The wax is thick, so you're getting a lot of wax for your money, and there was some blue liquid loose in the bag, so one of them leaked, making them all sticky. It's a mess to handle themAs far as the flavored liquid goes, think really sweet Kool-AidThe flavors were goodI'm not going to recommend these

Ah, the memories
Old-Fashioned Wax Bottle Candy – 1/2 Lbs Bulk Pack – 5 Fruity Flavors (Lemon, Blue Raspberry, Orange, Cherry, Green Apple) – Retro Candy Drinks for Parties, Kids, and Nostalgic 90's Buffet (Half Pound): $9.45 as of 07/23/25I straight up ordered these for the pure nostalgia, and they did not disappoint. Well, ok, they did: just like the originals from my childhood they taste great while the liquid is still in your mouth, then it's just chomping on the boring wax, lol.

Real deal but sticky mess
Mine had the sticky syrup on the inside and the outside but none of the too tightly packed bottles were leaking from what I can tell, it was sticky all across under the part that was folded over and sealed which would be unusual unless it was that way at the time. But once they (and I) were cleaned up I gave them a try and they did take me back decades to when we had them as kids, the flavor is the same extra sweet fruit drinks. We would sometimes bite the top off like opening a bottle and sip the nectar out and other times bite down on it and make it pop (mouth closed, jaw teeth) then chew it to get the last bit of juice. The wax softens when you chew on it, so a bit of a macgyver dentist hack you can use them for dental wax in a pinch.

just how I remembered
These are exactly how I remembered them. A great candy for nostalgia purposes, but otherwise meh and I don’t need to have them ever again. You bite the top off and spit it out, then “drink” the liquid inside and toss out the bottle. Apparently all the colors are supposed to taste like different flavors, but they all taste the act same to me. Like sweet sugar water, exactly like the liquid inside of frozen ice sticks! There’s not much liquid inside, and there’s less bottles in the bag than I anticipated. For nearly ten dollars, I find there to be no value and not very budget friendly. However, my need for nostalgic candy has been quenched and I am happy about that. If you’re looking for a sweet treat to actually satiate the sweet tooth… keep looking.

Retro Wax Bottle Candy Bliss
I cracked open the bag of these wax bottle candies, and wow—they’re pure nostalgia in every bite (and chewy)! The firm was shell gives way to a flood of tasty fruity syrup-tangy lemon, sweet cherry, tangy blue raspberry, bright orange, and crisp green apple—all packed into mini “drinks”. If you want a playful, retro treat that sparks memories, these little wax bottles deliver the perfect mixture of flavor and fun.
