This is a pretty good helmet / hard hat. I removed the chin strap that comes with it. The tightening buckle in the back does pivot and some MAY FIND it difficult to get to that “tight tight” level. Key word being SOME. I like that it has ear muffs and a partial face shield. I did NOT want a full face shield. You can feel the weight of the ear muffs when they are not on your ears. The ear muff pieces also can fall out / off from high drops or during transportation in equipment / protective gear bags. They snap back into place easily and will hold for general use.

I put the ear protection on and adjusted the chin strap today. The feature that allows the ear moves to to be pulled away from the ears was extremely tight. After using considerable force I managed to get it to work. The helmet feels comfortable, and the ear muffs have very good sound deadening ability, probably the best I have used. I plan to climb a tree and use my chainsaw to do some pruning soon and I will know how well the helmet works after that. I hope the tight snap on the ear muffs don't case breakage.

I where hard hats rather often working I'm HVAC/plumbing industry and I have always found them to be heavy bulky and overall uncomfortable where as this hard hat ia lighter and the harness is much more comfortable than a traditional hard hat. Haven't had the need for the ear defenders yet and didn't want the extra weight on the helmet yet. I do like having the built in safety shield since most of the time I lose my safety glasses or don't have them with me.

I was crushed underneath 400 pounds of glass marker boards. Yes I was. My other hat from this was squeezed and popped off like a pimple blackhead across the lot before I could get my left arm up to help support the weight. Had head and neck CT to clear me. If not for this hard hat, I’d probably not be needing another and writing this review. That this one comes w the ear protection is a major bonus. If I had been wearing my old school hat ( w a brim), I don’t wanna think about. This one is lightweight, secure and definitely protects one from all sorts of incidents. Thanks guys.
