SIMPLY AMAZING!
Five stars. I have a skylight in a cathedral ceiling fifteen feet up and attempting to open and close the shade is a joke. This new solution is amazing. They will ship whichever measurements you provide, so I recommend measuring 5+ times and being as close as possible to avoid fitment issues or gaps.Be sure to assemble and TEST the unit BEFORE attempting installation!!!! I thoroughly tested every aspect of this shade prior to installation. Walk yourself through the installation steps in a test setting. You certainly do not want to be up on a ladder trying to "figure it out".I found the installation instructions and videos very clear. Reviews here also helped a lot.Being fifteen feet in the sky I went with the solar panel unit. Again, TEST before installation. I had zero issues with testing or during installation.I also went with the Tuya smart plug, which is HIGHLY recommended. While "neat" that you can use Alexa or Google to verbally open and close the shade, the real feature is the ability to create a routine to have the shade open and close on specific schedules. Both the Tuya app and Alexa routine DOES allow you to open/close the shade to specific percentages, even on routines. That is pretty wild.I set my schedule to close at a specific time at night and open at a specific time in the afternoon. The instructions for the Tuya setup were quite clear and there is a QR code on the side of the device to obtain instructions. Once I paired the shade with the Tuya app I tested (prior to installation) the functions. Alexa then picked up the new device and I tested every scenario.Measure carefully! If your window is very high, go with the solar panel. If you want automation, go with the Tuya smart plug - although using the remote every day is easy enough if you want to go that route. Most important of all - TEST functions and assembly PRIOR to installation, I cannot stress that enough. Understand HOW this all works and fits together. That will make life easy for you once you are up on a ladder :)Five stars

Happy now that it's installed
There are very few few options out there for motorized skylights and the only one that I'm aware that's solar-powered and that you can customize/order online. A+ for that. The install took much longer than expected (see tips below). In any case, it's working perfectly now. I have it linked to Alexa via the Smart Module and can ask Alexa to open or close the blinds. It's also linked to Home Assistant with the Tuya integration.Overall, I'm very happy, and I plan on ordering two more.Tips/pitfalls that I encountered installing:- Ensure the numbered stickers all align and are pointed up.- Check the following things on the ground where it's easy:..... Figure out which way the motor turns when the blinds are opening and closing...... Verify that left and right bracket travels correctly when the motor is running...... Verify that the cord winds the correct direction. Mine spun the wrong way! The first time I installed everything, the blind only moved 1", the motor seized, and begun beeping. I had to modify the way the spool was mounted and winding.- Before inserting the drive shaft into the motor, use the remote to "close the blind" and put the motor at the closed blind limit.- Using hex-head screws vs. the included phillips screws makes installing much easier while you're up on a ladder.- There aren't any screws included for mounting the solar panel. Moreover, I was only able to put in one screw. Two would have interfered with the motor placement.- There aren't any screws included for mounting the final t-shaped blackout panel.- I was able to pair the blind with the TUYA smart module. The directions may be found by scanning the bottom QR code on the module. You can use the Smart Life or Tuya app - both should work. The top QR code can be used start the pairing in the app.- Setting blind % doesn't work in the Smart Life app (and consequently also via Alexa/Home Assistant). Commanding fully closed and fully open work fine.I could nitpick a few other details (the rails are also a good bit wider than my previous non-motorized blinds, which make the skylight effectively smaller, there's a small gap in the corners where the rails meet...), but as this is one of the few products on the market, I'm still happy and will be putting in the other two orders soon.
