This heated RV drinking water hose worked perfectly for almost two years – no leaks and kept the water flowing even in very cold weather. One time we lost power during a freeze, and the hose froze solid. So I recommend using a backup power source (UPS or generator) to keep the hose heating in case of power outages. Overall, a great product!

I installed it about 2 weeks ago, after reading negative reviews, I was prepared for the worse. I did as instructed, kept the thermostat sensor next to the water source and plugged both ends, however the middle of the body of the house was lightly still coiled. When I tried, the water was leaking from under the insulation, where connected to the water source, just as I saw it in the negative reviews. Then I remembered, the instruction clearly say, the house must be uncoiled, so I disconnected, and stretched it out completely in a straight line taking out any kinks, then I took the ends and plugged them in the outlet and inlet. Tested it again and NO LEAK, it works perfectly. That night, it was 25F degrees, the hose was warm to the touch and no leak (the pressure in my sink faucet doubled, I suppose my old hose was not as efficient as new one, etc...). So, it works. I must say, that the instructions, indicate that the heating element turns on below 50F degrees, my hose. turns on when it it is below 35F roughly, which is fine.

It is now -1 outside, and I am getting to fully experience the joy of this hose. I am living in a winterized RV for the winter and this has been supplying fresh clean, 55 degree Fahrenheit water from my taps each morning. It is so refreshing to splash that water in my eyes instead of water hovering around the freezing point.

Needed for camping in the South during cold weather. It kept my water from freezing overnite. In addition, if using for rv'ing you will need something to cover the connection at the rv (used a portion of a pool noodle). We also used a heat tape to wrap the water tap and water pressure regulator. Good quality hose and keeps incoming water from freezing.

I haven't had this for long, but I can see where some people might have encountered or caused their problems. But to put this simply, this works and it works well! So, more in depth: I bought this for the obvious, I do not want my water lines to freeze. I intended to buy a -40 rated 25' hose, but instead got this one ( -20 rated 50'). I am not disappointed though, it was a mistake on MY part not the vendor. This is longer than I needed but hey, I can use it in multiple locations where 25' may not be suitable. So, first off I plug this in on the shore side, not my RV. There is plenty of lead without being obnoxiously long. However, some may encounter issues where the water is far away from shore power, in which case use an extension cord (not recommended) or plug into your RV (which is again, not recommended and often would use an extension cord as well). Use the 2 INCLUDED foam sleeves to protect the connection joints. Use a wrench to lightly tighten, at JUST over hand tight. NOT A LOT, just barely...and this is where people have problems. They either use just hand tight, which causes leaks. But too tight and you destroy the rubber gasket, causing more leaks. And possibly destroys the metal connection. Now, you haver a little lead on the RV side of the hose too, JUST enough to wrap an elbow joint. Feed that into a look and pull the sensor through the sleeve (leave it exposed). With that my water has consistently been held above the freezing point, and even warmer than expected in the hose on cold days. Pros: Effective heat tolerance No off putting flavors in the water Simple setup (one step, just hook it up) Possible that you can use a long sleeve in order to decrease the freeze point (not recommended though) Cons: If you connect the water line too loosely or tightly you can destroy a $150 device MUST treat as electrical device! (This is a major issue in damp places, not so much in most places)
