Beautifully machined. Straightforward assembly. Sturdy, beautiful and functional. It is increasingly difficult to find well made, long lasting wood furniture and this one offers great versatility. Great to prevent back pain rather than standing in the kitchen for long periods.

This very tall saddle stool is made of high quality hardwood and has a beautiful finish. Instructions are very clear on assembly - the placement of parts is easy to figure out. I recommend applying some hard beeswax or hard soap to the first few threads of the screws to prevent splitting of the wood when driving them in. The fitment of the wood pieces is perfect and balanced- just make sure to connect each piece lightly at first with the screws so you can adjust the alignment of the parts if needed. I took my time building this - it took roughly 35 minutes to assemble it fully. Once the screws are fully tightened, you will have a very sturdy stool to enjoy for many years to come. One note, since this is a very tall hardwood stool, the edges of the top, (while not at all sharp), may not be the most comfortable to sit on for prolonged periods. I find the pressure of the smooth 90 degree edge to be slightly painful on the back of my legs when sitting on this stool for more than 30 minutes. This is not a complaint about the stool in any way, it is a wood stool after all, but due to how one balances on a very tall saddle stool, I would suggest buying a cushion to ease the pressure and reduce soreness.

I like the smooth wood and shape of this stool. The 29 inch height is great for use at my bathroom counter so I can sit to do my makeup and hair, without being too low for my knees. The screws were hard to get in all the way easily. I tried my electric drill with a special screw bit, it was better to do by hand with another allen wrench type of tool but took a lot of time and strength to get the screws in. I should have pre-drilled the holes just a bit, was in a hurry to get it done and forgot. The directions weren't as clear but I am good with puzzles. I am very happy with it.

The packaging and materials are great: hard wood with well fitting mechanical fittings (threaded inserts and bolts via hex driver). The only problem is that with use it loosens up at the bolt connections. I solved this with adding a plywood skirt at the seat, but that's ok for a shop, but maybe not for in-the-house. Very substantial and solid, not particularly comfortable for long periods, but that's not what I used it for. Its up against my workbench for work that is intermittent, and the small footprint is appreciated. As I have made modifications to the design, it works great and fulfills my needs, but maybe not yours. Maybe a little "lock-tight" or epoxy would solve the loosing bolts, but I did not go that route.
