High Quality Product.
My husband and I bought this for a camping trip because we like cream, real cream in our coffee, I had tried powdered milk, but I may as well be adding water to my coffee, and so we looked in to buying some powdered cream and this was the best deal that we could find. I really like that the ingredients are just freeze dried cream, nothing more. I was a little bit weary of the taste, I thought it might taste weird, being it is dried, so I gave it a few different test to see how it fared. I first tried it with instant coffee, and it had a weird taste to it, and I was not impressed with the flavor of the cream, it tasted like cooked cream essentially, and I was very underwhelmed. Then, I tried it with real coffee, fresh brewed, and I had quite a different experience, it taste just like normal cream, maybe not really fresh cream, but it was perfect. I had it 3 days in a row like that, and it was perfect every time. I went back home and tried it with instant coffee again just to see what it would be like, and the answer is that it was definitely the instant coffee, it was the same as the first time I tried it. If you use this with an instant coffee, use it with a high quality one, mine was not, and it effected the flavor of the cream. As others have stated, it works best for mixing if you initially mix it in a small amount of liquid(preferably hot) before incorporating with your whole batch of anything. You don't need to make a paste, but about 4 parts water to 1 part cream should be good for mixing initially. I will definitely be ordering this again for use while traveling with my coffee, I am very impressed with it, and I plan on trying some of this companies other stuff as well, I am excited to do so, I hope they are as good as this cream. God Bless ~Amy

Good substitute for those looking for a shelf stable version of heavy cream for their coffee
I purchased this product first and foremost for my coffee as a shelf stable alternative to refrigerated heavy cream and also for cooking and baking. As a former school trained chef I am particular in my tastes but in all honesty I was not expecting this to taste like fresh heavy cream. After reading the review about lumps, I took the advice of others and mixed about a teaspoon of hot coffee in the cup before adding the rest. It took a while to dissolve all the lumps with stirring...a slight annoyance but not enough to discontinue using the product. Even with all the stirring, a few small lumps were floating on the top when I added the rest of the coffee. A teaspoon of the powder gave me the right color for my coffee. The mouth feel was spot on for heavy cream and I spent the rest of the time finishing my cup trying to decide if I could tell the difference from the two. As others had commented, I did notice a grittiness at the very end of the cup, the last tablespoon or so. I decided to make my next cup with fresh heavy cream to see the difference. I added about a tablespoon of fresh heavy cream to my cup. Same color, same appearance. Mouth feel was the same but there was a definite difference in the taste, not sweeter but the dairy flavor I picked up with the fresh cream was most likely due to the milk sugars. That being said all in all I think this is a good product for those looking for a shelf stable alternative to heavy cream for their coffee. The flavor was close enough that I needed to make a cup with fresh cream to taste the difference. One star removed for the grittiness at the end and the lumps that take a lot of stirring to remove. I will purchase this product again.

I did not personally like this.
I honestly don't know what I was expecting. I am on keto and have had a hard time going from powdered creamer to heavy whip as creamer with splenda. I like powder creamer because it doesnt liquify my coffee, so I wanted to try powder heavy cream and thats a hard freaking no. It is super clumpy. and I dont have time to worry about that. I honestly don't know if it tastes weird cause i didnt get past the clumps. and I actually have a frother too. so idk. i struggle apparently. but if you on keto, just stick with the heavy cream and the splenda, it gets better tastingafter a few weeks. your tastebuds get used to being unhappy. lol

Good for Adding to Baked Goods, Terrible as Coffee Creamer
The Hoosier Hill Farm Heavy Cream Powder is a good powdered cream for baking, but is not a good replacement for powdered creamer to use in coffee. It's very difficult to determine what exactly is in this cream. On the bottle's label, it's stated as "Ingredients: Sweet Cream Solids" and that's it. On the item description, it's listed as "Pasteurized Sweet Cream, Skim Milk Solids, Sodium Caseinate, Soy Lecithin, BHT", or "sweet cream, nonfat milk, sodium caseinate and anti-caking agent". I'm not quite sure what's in there, but it seems that it's not just dried milk solids. This powder is also made in a factory that processes tree nuts, peanuts, dairy, soy, and wheat products, so this is off limits to anyone with nut, dairy, soy, or gluten allergies. The reconstituted powder itself does not taste good - I tried blending it with water and leaving it overnight in the fridge to see how the cream would turn out, and it doesn't taste pleasant, nor does it have a good mouthfeel to it. I did not like using this cream in coffees, cocoa, or when making ice cream, however I did like using this cream when baking bread, cakes, and to added richness to soups, gravies, and puddings. As long as the cream flavor was not intended to be pronounced and was added solely for richness sake, it worked just fine, although not better than using actual heavy cream. Overall, if you're looking for a convenient way to add richness to your dishes without having to always have heavy cream in your fridge, this is a decent product to consider. However, would I buy it again - likely not.

Great for cooking the occasional recipe that requires cream
I've ordered this several times because we use it (albeit somewhat slowly, as it takes a year or two to use the whole container). I don't exactly follow the directions to make the "cream" because I almost never think a day in advance about needing cream, so I eyeball a mixture of cream powder plus *whole milk* (instead of water) following the recommended ratio and use an immersion blender or a Ninja blender or even a lightweight electric coffee stirrer to blend well. It will maintain a slight grittiness if I use it right away, but since I'm cooking with it, it's not too noticeable versus cooking with fresh heavy cream even in a cream sauce. If I know I will be using a lot of heavy cream, I'll buy 1/2 gallon at my favorite exclusive member's club, but the rest of the time I would end up using a little and throwing the rest, so this cream is an excellent substitute. I haven't tried turning it into whipped cream, but it does a great job in dinner recipes that call for cream.
