Can i use this once a month instead of every 3 to 5 days?

Yes I would recommend a one time usage of you don't use it often. When you mix the chebe you have to store it in a fridge I wouldn't use it after 5 days because it goes off

Does this work as a leave in conditioner?

I mix mine with shea butter, coconut oil and peppermint oil, blend it and apply after a wash just like leave in conditioner. My hair loves it. Hope that answers you.
