GOODSMANN Low Voltage Transformer 300 Watt with Timer, Photo Eye Sensor and Weather Shield for Outdoor Lighting Metal Transformer 120V AC to 12V AC 9920-0300-01

This unit is GREAT having many options for operating landscape lighting, I finally had to replace a Malibu "Manual Timer" having a "turning wheel clock" with pieces to locate for ON and OFF times around the perimeter of the "wheel". That unit operated perfectly for over twenty years, but I had to manually MOVE the ON/OFF pieces multiple times during the year with many more hours of daylight during summer months. The BEST "feature" of this new unit in my opinion is having a SENSOR with the unit set to "AUTO" Mode so your lights will turn ON at dusk and OFF at dawn "automatically", so no more having to reset times for the summer months!!! I mounted the SENSOR on a block wall both facing UP, and facing OUT towards the west. At "sunset" with the original SENSOR (facing UP) turned the lights ON at dusk, but they STAYED ON even at 10:00 AM the next morning on a sunny day in Arizona! The company immediately sent me a replacement SENSOR and it also had problems turning the lights both ON and OFF when set to "AUTO" Mode and mounting the replacement SENSOR in two different directions. I then gave up on the "AUTO" mode with the SENSOR and resorted back to setting the clock for both ON and OFF times no longer using the "AUTO" mode. This is a GREAT unit, but their "SENSOR" and "AUTO" Mode still needs work!!! Having difficulty with their SENSOR in the ARIZONA SUN does not bode well, let alone those who reside in less sunny states!!! Also, their "Instructions" have a "template" for drilling the mounting holes, and the "template" is NOT the same distance for the mounting holes on the actual unit! SO, MEASURE THE MOUNTING HOLES ON THE UNIT BEFORE DRILLING - DO NOT USE THE "TEMPLATE" FOR DRILLING THE MOUNTING HOLES!!! UPDATE ON 3/23/19: After promptly receiving a "Sensor" replacement from Goodman that did not solve the "AUTO" Mode problem, Goodman IMMEDIATELY sent me an entire replacement Transformer unit after they had tested it out themselves prior to shipping it out. My problem has been resolved and I must commend Goodman for their incredible attention to my issue. Goodman IMMEDIATELY responded to my review comments above without me having to contact them, they beat me to it! It is pretty rare to receive that kind of IMMEDIATE attention from a seller to their customers! I am very please with this product after having a rocky start, I would highly recommend this Lighting Transformer.

I have 4 of these for different zones on my property. I got the first one 6 years ago and have been expanding ever since. Not only are these great products, the customer service is beyond fantastic. I was moving one box and messed up the photo sensor. I contacted them and got immediate assistance to help me resolve the issue I caused. I can’t say enough good things about the product and now I can attest to the quality of service.

I have two of these transformers. The first still works fine after years of service. The second one purchased in June now works intermittently. The main control knob is faulty and works on the timer only after playing with it and wiggly it around. After contacting them (since the warranty is 1 yr) they want me to box it safely and return it on my own penny (a very heavy transformer) so they can repair it. Meanwhile I have no transformer for my outdoor lights. I told them that was unsatisfactory and that I would return it as soon as a replacement arrived. They said they could not do that so I will not be buying any additional Goodmann products. I am extremely unhappy with them and their customer support. Be careful what you purchase from this company.

So I ordered this, then was at Home Depot and found one for $20 less, so I canceled the order (it hadn't shipped yet), then I realized that the one at Home Depot 1) Didn't have a cover 2)Didn't have an analog selection feature. I tried to cancel the cancellation but Amazon was too fast! So I reordered (so whoever had to pack then unpack the first one, sorry, cause this sucker is heavy! So glad I reordered because this is an order of magnitude better than the 300watt power pack sold at Home Depot! 1) ALL metal case, with a snap cover for the controls (with enough space to pack in a desiccant pack to keep ANY moisture out, all the ones I've seen retail are plastic. Sealed plastic. One of the main reasons that these units wear out over time is the heat cycling of both the transformer and the control board, in a sealed container. So I'm hoping that having an all-metal case means more heat dissipation leading to longer life {finger's crossed} 2) Analog function selector. This is important to me because the Malibu pack this is replacing had a single button where you had to digitally cycle through the functions (off/on/sensor/off after 2/4/6/8hrs). The problem was that every time the power went out, it recycled back to off, so I would have to remember to go out and reselect. Having a knob set to the function I want means if the power goes out, it goes right back to what I set. 3) Clock feature. In full disclosure, I did not test if the clock resets if the power goes out, I'm guessing it does, which would put you right back into a power-out have to reset the clock, cycle, but I have no plans to use the clock feature, so that really doesn't matter to me. There was no set date feature, which tells me it also does not have logic for Daylight Savings Time, so that means manually setting forward/back if you want the clock to be accurate. For me the clock feature is silly. If that's important to you, you might want to try the questions section. The analog dial has the standard sensor +4/+6/+8/+10 settings that don't rely on the clock at all, using the daylight sensor instead, so the idea of having the unit go off at an exact set time seems kind of silly to me. 4) Heavy. The transformer in this unit is probably 1/2 again as heavy as the unit it's replacing for the same wattage. That means a heavy magnet in the transformer, so I'm hoping that means it can generate the same wattage without as much heat, again making it last longer. Update: After a full cycle of seasons, I am so impressed with this purchase! Multiple power outages never impacted the analog daylight-sensor based timing. With my two previous power supplies, I was having to replace bulbs about once a season, I thought that was normal, but with this unit, I've not had to replace a single bulb.

Definitely recommended! This review could have gone very differently - the transformer I initially received did not work. I contacted Goodsmann and they were happy to send a new transformer under the 1 year warranty they offered. They reached out to me to make sure I was provided with a personal service for the return. They sent me a replacement as a priority and I'm glad to say it works beautifully. They also asked if I'd be so kind to send back the broken transformer (at their expense) - they care about the quality of their products and want to understand what went wrong so they can help to prevent it in the future - great company that cares like that. This is a tough weather unit. We are in northern Arizona and get 95-100 degree days in June and teens in winter. More than enough power for 16 Goodsmann low voltage lights. I thought that I had an issue with this transformer throwing the internal breaker, called Goodsmann and spoke many times with Joey. He was so helpful and spent a lot of time with me. He offered to take it in and look at it but told me that it was probably a break in the line somewhere. I couldn't find it because I looked at the wrong section of line...totally different end of the line than the lights which weren't powering on. My handyman found the suspect point of line, cut it, reattached it and the lights all came on. So, trust that this is a quality product and that Goodsmann is a quality company with quality people that will stand behind its product!

This transformer was very easy to mount on my wall. It is so simple to setup and use. It has worked everyday with no issues at all.

Great transformer. I year in and it's trouble free. Very easy to operate. Metal case makes me confident that it is a quality product. I only gave it 4 stars because it only has one terminal. In an ideal configuration it would have 3 or 4 so I could attach each separate run / light-series to its own terminal. I have 4 separate runs to minimize fade for longer runs (runs are between 35 and 75 feet long). If you also want multiple runs, just strip your wires at the end near the transformer, twist them all together and attach them to the single terminal at the bottom of the transformer. I would buy this unit again.
