Perfect Juicer for Me!
I have been juicing with the same OLYMPIC centrifugal juicer for about 30 years! One of the latches broke so I decided it was time to try something new. I was pleasantly surprised when I received my refurbished OMEGA masticating slow juicer, all neatly packaged like new! I’m including photos with this review because I’m truly impressed by this juicer. It’s fun to watch it work and I usually make about 12-16 ounces of juice which lasts me for several days. I’m not sure how this would work for a large family or if you juice more often. I usually juice once every 3 days. I used a 2 lb. (32oz) bag of organic carrots quartered or halved lengthwise and then cut in half, 2-3 stalks of celery cut in 1” pieces, and then assorted fruits or vegetables such as kale, spinach, apple slices, watermelon. This juicer handled everything and I haven’t needed the “pusher” yet. I put the greens in and followed with a carrot and everything fed through, producing very dry pulp. My old juicer lost a lot of juice into the pulp and greens clogged it. With this juicer, the bowl is easy to rinse out and all the pieces clean easily. I found a few bits of unprocessed carrot in the bowl, but no problem, and the celery went through easily. It did great with watermelon pieces. With my old juicer, I had 3 large items to wash each time and the stainless strainer basket was very difficult to keep clean. I had only 2 more items to wash out with this juicer and it was easy and fast. The components reassemble easily with arrows. It took me about 20 minutes to juice and after rinsing everything well, I placed the accessories on a dish towel to dry a bit and quickly stacked them back on the base unit. I love the compact size because I live in my small RV and a portable table is my work space. It also comes with 2 plastic containers – both like new. In the pulp container I also placed a plastic baggie which makes cleanup even easier. This juicer is much quieter than my old one. It doesn’t scoot around and vibrate. It rocks on unique little pads when working on a lot of produce at one time but that is not a problem and I enjoy watching it operate. I admit I had some concern about buying it refurbished but this company is wonderful and the one I received is in new condition and I am very pleased with my purchase. I definitely love this juicer and won’t go back to the centrifugal style. I also noticed that the juice is much more concentrated and has less foam. I kind of liked the foam from the old one, but I love how this really gives you all of the juice and doesn’t waste it. You also receive a cleaning brush and strainer for the juice container. I’ve included a photo. If you don’t want any pulp in the juice just strain it twice. The company obviously cares about customers and they sent everything in double boxing, very nicely packed. It has a 3-year warranty in addition to the 2-year from OMEGA. Although new juicers have longer warranties, I feel that with proper maintenance this one will last a long time! Now I can ‘drink my lunch salad’ with more nutrition and save time.I have been using this wonderful juicer once or twice per week now for over one month. I just wanted to update with a final photo that shows the 8 pieces I wash easily when finished juicing. The entire process takes me approximately 5 minutes. I would recommend getting a kitchen scrub brush where you can fill it with a mild dish detergent - I use a non-allergenic clear type - and use the brush along with the little 'toothbrush' style brush that came with my order, to clean the basket and pieces each time. It's really simply and I'm still enjoying the excellent quality of juice without much waste.

this thing is great, a little quirky but great.
This juicer is so nice. It's heavy duty and nothing about it seems cheap. It does have some quirks. First, celery needs to be cut into short pieces. Also anything that is a large diameter needs to be cut up. It' may sound like a lot of work but it's really not, I used a centrifugal to start out and I like my vrt 400 much better. It's considerably less noisy than the centtrifugal, Also it makes a pulpy juice, which I don't care for but it' does come with a strainer that works well but I strain it again through a nut milk bag. I have juiced apples, oranges, lemons, ginger root, pineapple, baby spinach, kale, carrots, celery, cucumbers, grapes, strawberries, and they have all worked out great. Pineapple through a centrifugal is an act of futility, the VRT400 had tremendously better results. So the quirks: You need to alternate items. If you have a soft item like pineapple or strawberries, you need to feed some of the softer item, then feed some of a harder item like carrots, celery, or apples. This prevents clogging the pulp ejection slot. also, don't shove a lot into it at once. Empty the included strainer periodically it will clog, swish the pulp around with a butter knife to let your trapped juice through, then dump the strainer out. It sounds like a lot but it's really not, it's almost as fast as my old centrifugal overall because this juicer is much easier to clean. Also read the instructions to learn how to reassemble it. there is a method and it makes life easier. I am a busy person, so if this took forever i couldn't use it. I am VERY happy with this juicer.

Very good but
The only thing bad is they glued a sticker right across the front and I have not yet been able to get the glue off. It is really quiet and a pleasure to operate. I use the vitamix blender a lot more than the juicer because it is so much quicker to use and clean up. That said I like the juice better with the juicer. If you can only afford one, go for the vitamix blender.

Not worth it, do your research really well
I initially had the horizontal juicer, wasn't happy with it then purchased this one. Still not thrilled with it. If one uses the mesh strainer, one has to constantly stop and stir the sediment that collects on it, to allow juice to pass through. This is extremely frustrating as I am making only 16 ounces at the time. I have to stop and start several times. I have given up and just removed the strainer. This means that I am now getting a ton of pulp in my juice. Then too the photo the company has on the removable label is totally misleading. When juicing greens, it turns out 100% the way they say it won't. It does not do cucumbers well and neither citrus. When one stops to clean it, there is a goopy mess around the masticating gear. The instruction guide is of no benefit - maybe I should be juicing produce in a certain order? I don't know as the guide does not have anything relating to that. I purchased it because of the low speed masticating, no heat damage of juice, I just have to use it now as I am past my 30-day return option. I also sent an email to customer service of Omega and never got a response.

Good unit "but"
This juicer works really nice and is easy to use, "but" I noticed that plastic was rubbing together and the plastice that was tearing away had to be going into our juice. I think the lower model Omega that clicks into place without the magnit probably doesn't do this. It is because it rocks some when grinding carrots and harder vegies or fruits and probably that is why it scrapes maybe. It was a really well built unit and I would have kept it if it didn't put plastic in our juices.

Excelente
