Handy & Convenient
These phones are a great and handy little phone, especially if you're looking for a basic phone. The display is battery powered, so they'll even work during a power outage. There are only two down sides to them though.... 1) The display is not back-light, which under some conditions can make it hard to read, though it does work as it should 2) If you're mounting them to a wall, they're a bit too easy to accidentally knock off the hook, so just be careful if you plan to use them as a wall phone. It should also be noted that you can tell when the batteries die. When you pick up the receiver and place it to your ear, you'll hear a single click sound, which sometimes comes a couple of times during the call. This is because the phone is being powered by the current of the phone line itself, rather than the batteries in them. This is a simple fix though... Just replace the batteries, and this problem will go away. They even work well for quite some time on rechargeable batteries, which is a big plus in my opinion. The only other thing worth noting is that the phone cord between the base and the receiver as well as the phone cord to plug the phone into the jack are built into the phone itself and cannot be removed, so if you want to use this phone from a distance from the phone jack, your best option is to invest in a phone extension cable. As for the receiver, I do not know of any way to make it longer. For my purposes though, this is not a problem, as I can bring the jack to the phone, and do not need the receiver cord to be overly long.

Great old school technology which is still reliable today.
Technology is simple and easy to use. Its light, with easy to see letters and numbers with just the right feel of buttons. Sometimes you don't need the fancier gadgets to do the basics in life and this works.

Does the trick--call display requires batteries
We got this phone so that we would have one landline that wasn't a cordless in case our cordless died or the power went out (which turns out our landline goes out when the power goes out even though it's not supposed to). I like this little phone. Mounts on the wall very easily. I like that it has a call display (which you need to put batteries in it to make it work). It's kind of a very small display, but it is a small phone. For the money, it's worth it to have if you have a landline
