Outstanding quality, style and value
The quality of this umbrella is outstanding. It looks and feels like it should cost twice as much. Built with solid construction and tolerances you'd expect from one of those luxury $5,000 models, it's simple to set up and ships 90% assembled. The tilting feature is very unique and offers a broad range of shade and privacy possibilities.I'm not a fan of huge sand/water weighted bases, so I reached out to Purple Leaf for direct-to-ground mounting ideas. They gave me instructions for a baseless mounting method, and for less than $12, I was able to bolt directly into concrete using 3/8" x 3.75" wedge anchors into my pool deck. The look is clean and frees up space for a table, where a base would have taken up a whole bunch of space.Their customer service is amazing.I'm extremely pleased with this purchase and think this umbrella will last years longer than the one it replaced.

Bigger than expected. High end look.
The umbrella is very high end and looks it. We had it up in twenty mph wind and quickly decided that we didn't feel comfortable with that next to windows and people. In ten mph wind the next day it was totally stable so maybe we will gain confidence on that front. I will say the sand in the base is not easy. We were able to get 85 lbs or so in each side and maybe can add a little more in a few days. I cut a Clorox jug to use as funnel which sped up the process. We are going to purchase the cover now. And one of the parts on the turn mechanism was welded crooked. Needed extra washers to level out it out orwould have had a considerable "lean" on the pole. So maybe be ready for minor alterations..

Great product love the size.
Haven’t gotten to use it much, yet. But very pleased with the quality & functionality. My handyman, who set it up, was very impressed. He hadn’t setup one with the side to side tilt. He asked for the link to share with other customers. I did a lot of research before making this purchase. Purple Leaf customer service was great answering my questions.

Amazing!
This umbrella is perfect if a cantilevered umbrella is what you are looking for. The first one i ordered had numerous issues, mostly because it looked like someone else had already tried to use it and broke it. I returned it, received a refund with no issues, and re-ordered a new one. I am glad I did and will definitely return if I need to purchase more in the future.

A great company with great products
I've tried to figure out for some time now how to best provide late afternoon shade for two chairs on my deck, which faces due west. Once I finally found the right product (this one) I had to determine the best way to mount it securely.Purple Leaf provides a few options, but you have to dig around a bit to find them. I found the "standard" way the least palatable.By the way, if you are wondering if Purple Leaf is a great company with great products, wonder no more; they are. I had a number of interactions with them as I tried to figure out the best solution for my mounting and they were responsive and helpful. My deck joists are 16" on center apart. Additionally, I cannot get access underneath my desk and, since it's a composite deck with "invisible" clips that hold my deck down, removing a portion of the deck to get access to construct a box to attach this base to wasn't an option. So I made a 17" x 17" frame out of treated lumber, which I attached to my joists using 5.5" lag screws; then, I painted the Purple Leaf plate and my frame the same color. I used the 16 mounting screws with 1.25" stainless lag screws to bolt the steel plate to the frame I made. Some have simply used the 16 holes to screw the place to the deck but, given that my deck is composite, not wood, I didn't trust that. And the big "X" base that comes witht the umbrella, held down with either the water/sand weight, sand bags, patio blocks or the life would not have been to my liking. If you have a wooden deck of pressure treated lumber, you're probably OK just screwing the base to the deck.Time will tell if this holds up, but I have a feeling it's not going anywhere since I really over-engineered this solution.Very, very happy with my purchase. The umbrella is well-constructed and the provided hardware is top-notch. While it's recommended to have two people for the final mounting, I was able to handle it just fine by myself at 67 years of age.
