MOONDROP MIAD01 MD-PH-001 5G Mobile Phone Internet HiFi Audio Device Music Player

I've had this phone for two months, I bought it in February and May has just started. I can confidently say that buying this phone instead of the new iPhone was the smart move. I was waiting and waiting for something to happen that would make me regret it, but I haven't. I've dropped it a ton and the screen is just fine despite my having no case or protector so. Yeah. If you have little hands like me, good luck because this thing is bigger than I thought. Still worth tho. I'm using it with audio technica headphones, and so far the sound quality and consistency is great compared to my iPhone 13 and Airpods pro combo.

This mobile internet audio device is super. The display is clear and colours are vivid. The sound is very satisfying paired with wired earphones. Moondrop sounds great with wireless headphones. Works perfectly with the Qobuz app for streaming and downloading music.

I'll get straight to the point: if you have been considering buying this product don't hesitate. It's a great phone and a great music player. Here's the detail... The Moondrop MIAD 01 is, to the best of my knowledge, a unique product - a competent phone that has been optimised to play music in both wired and Bluetooth configurations, but with the emphasis on the generally better sound you get by having a physical connection. To facilitate this the phone has a 3.5mm (standard size) headphone jack plus a rather less common 4.4mm jack allowing connection to balanced output headphones. As with all hi-fi products, what you hear will depend on the quality of the source. I have loaded up the MIAD's 256 GB of internal storage with CD-quality FLAC files and some Hi-Res files for testing purposes - I'm a Hi-Res sceptic in the main, however. I can confirm that played into a good quality set of wired headphones the quality is excellent, but if you don't want to take my word for that please take a look at the video review by John Darko who finds the product better than many expensive dedicated portable music players. I haven't tried listening using Bluetooth, but it's worth mentioning that the MIAD supports Sony's high quality LDAC codec. Of course there would be little point in buying the MIAD for its sound quality if it didn't also function as a capable phone. I hesitated before buying (unfortunately missing out on a Prime Day 60 Pound price discount!) because a number of online reviewers had questioned whether the MIAD could be an only or main phone, citing being unable to use it to access GPS-dependent services like Google Maps or set it up for near field communication (NFC)-based services like Google Pay. I can confirm that I have had no problem whatsoever setting up these services. I think the critical reviews you will find online all date from more than a year ago, prior to a major over-the-air update. The update has resolved these and any other problems while also updating the OS to Android 14 from 13. Call quality on 4G and 5G is excellent. An additional positive feature is that this is as close to stock Android as you are likely to get outside of the Pixel range. There was literally no bloatware I needed to get rid of of - compare and contrast with any Samsung phone! Like everything, there are a few little niggles. The unusual shape of the phone means that it takes a little thought at first as to how to safely hold it, but that's a skill you soon acquire. Also, the factory-applied screen protection film has a bit of tendency to bubble a little at the edges but can be soothed back down quite easily and at some point I will remove it entirely. (I am expecting the gel cover I have ordered but not yet received to help out with both these small issues). Finally, it's worth noting that the phone arrived from the Chinese supplier superbly well packaged and well within the delivery window. Overall I would unhesitatingly recommend this player/phone for its quality and excellent value for money.
