Will this work with my 2010 civic ex-l?

It worked with my 2011 accord ex-l, so I would guess that it would. Civics and accords are pretty similar.

Does this work for a 2012 CRV without having to move the transponder?

Once cut, It will work to open the doors via the mechanical locking system. Otherwise this unit is just a shell which you transfer the guts from the old remote over into.

Can I just slap in a new transponder node? Or does it require me to solder it to the battery?

Nothing to solder, you can just put the transponder from the old keyfob in it

You have to have the key part cut to fit your car. As for the remote part, unscrew the new one. Should be 3 small screws on back side. Keep the key part folded in, hold closed it has a spring on it and will want to pop out. Open your old key remote, then just take the insides out and put in place in your new remote with key.
