We believe food choices are the most important daily decisions we make for our health and well-being, and it’s not any different when it comes to feeding our cats.

Q: Why do you add menadione when it is said to be toxic to cats over time?

Hi. This is Amber with Beyond. We’d never use any ingredients in our products that would harm pets. Menadione has been commonly used in pet foods for approximately 25 years with no documented negative health effects. It’s a stable source of the essential nutrient vitamin K and is required for the synthesis of a number of body proteins, most notably the proteins responsible for normal blood clotting. Would answer your specific question question if I could read the small writing on the bag. But I will say that my cat loves her "fishy food" above all the other food I've given her, so we keep coming back to it. Also, the percentage of protein is higher than most other foods. My vet was impressed by that.

Q: Can kittens eat this?

Kittens can eat this, but the question is whether or not they should eat this. Kittens should really be eating food specifically designed for their growing/developing little bodies, i.e. kitten food.
