The best 'no-nasty chemicals' deodorant I've tried
I bought this at the start of the the year and I feel like I've really put it through it's paces. I'm a performer (who sweats a lot!) and I've been touring a very active show to some wildly different climates; from the tiny cold Scottish isle of Mull to the south of France in 40 degree heat to very humid Singapore. Of all the natural deodorants I've tried, this it the best at deodorising - of course it doesn't stop the sweat, but it stops me smelling awful, even after many hours of sweating with heat and after running around on stage. I LOVE the smell - I have the purple Onsen one. It's quite strong, but I love this. I'd much prefer to smell of this than BO! And it's not like the fragrance is overbearing after it's applied. You only really need to use a small amount, and it lasts for most of the day. I think the tube itself will last quite a while - I got it in January, and I'm perhaps half way through in July? Oh, and it hasn't left any marks on my clothes. The only thing I've noticed is that extreme temperatures can have an effect on the thickness of the paste. When I was in Scotland, it was snowing outside and fairly cold inside, but not freezing. The paste became very hard to squeeze out! Not impossible, but difficult. Then, in very hot climates, at about 40 degrees Celsius, it becomes very thin and a bit watery, so you need to take care squeezing it out, as it'll flow out very quickly. However, I really haven't minded this at all. Perhaps in order to stay consistent in all temperatures, you'd need to add chemicals - then it wouldn't be a natural deodorant! Overall, it's the most expensive deodorant I've ever bought, but as a sweaty performer, it's a great investment. It's the best of the natural deodorants and I love the strong smell. Packaging looks great too. comes in a nice box. I would even say this would be a great gift for a performer!

Finally, something that works!
I've tried every deodorant/antiperspirant going, and never found one that worked completely. Some worked well but made me smell weird, whereas other made me smell lovely, but let me down. I cannot remember how I found out about this but it is soooo good. Pros: it is human, and planet friendly, residue free, doesn't harm your clothes, and can be used anywhere on the body, including the face, and underboob sweat is a thing of the past. That said, it is unisex, so you can share the same product. It smells lovely but not overpowering, (Onsen (purple tube) is my go-to), it also comes in fragrance free, it's easy to apply, it keeps you fresh and dry, and the tube last for a good 6-8 weeks depending on how often you reapply. A 'pea' size dollop is honestly all you need. There are no lasting, unpleasant side effects either that you can get from 'professional' products. Cons: It can make you a bit itchy but just wash off and use less next time, and you'll definitely need 'The Assistant' which is a tube 'key' because the tube is hard to squeeze using your hand. These keys are available anywhere tho, so not really a 'con'. I love it. Finish the tube and place in the recycling. What's not to love?! It might not be for all, and it could be called pricey, BUT, having something that actually works, is worth its weight in gold. I will definitely continue to buy this 🙂

End of the day and still smelling fresh
I bought the orange fragrance and it reminds me a little of the rituals orange body cream only not as strong. It works very well though :) I've tried wild and fussy and both at the end of the day my underarms were wet and a slight odour :-( the only thing that stops it getting a 5 star is the lid is a littke fiddly and really shouldn't be needing to jab a pen into it to open. A design flaw really for something so expensive. Also once rubbed in it is quite powdery and did get a little on my black top but overall im just happy that finally I've found something that stops me sweating. I've also bought a 5ml sample of the columbia Road one which is tiny but smells very much of violets :) like the daisy twinkle perfume or a nice M&S handcream. Again the lid is a little fiddly. With the 5ml you break the nozzle then put it back in upside down.

Stinks of crap, manly aftershave, had to scrub it off
First thing first- this deodorant works well, and the branding is delightful- credit where credit is due. I tried their tiny orange sample from an Instagram ad and found it very effective, but stinky. Because it was so effective, I put up with the stink of that one and came here to buy one, in a different scent. This company clearly wants to be unisex and androgynous and that’s fine- but they haven’t made it as inclusive as they’d dream because people like me who LIKED their personal fragrance to not smell overwhelmingly masculine are left out. It doesn’t smell unisex, it just smells male. If I’d known that, I wouldn’t have bought it. For two of their products to have overwhelmingly masculine scents actually feels some kind of sexist… because in the quest for unisex they’ve overused fragrances traditionally used for men (wood-based, like cedarwood, sandalwood, vetiver 🤢) and excluded fragrances traditionally used for women. That’s still bias. This has got pretty intense for a deodorant review, but honestly it left me retching to the point where I had to scrub my poor underarms raw to get the manly stench off. And then that made me mad. To conclude, the deodorant works, the packaging is beautiful and the eco credentials feel legit enough- but please, AKT, work on the disgusting smell.

Long-lasting and nice scent, but stains clothing
I really like the scent of this deodorant, it smells great and, more importantly, it actually lasts all day. By the end of the day my underarms still smell fresh, which is something I don’t often find with other deodorants. Unfortunately, it does leave white marks and stains on undergarments. In my case, my armpits weren’t even wet because I wasn’t sweating, it’s literally the deodorant rubbing off onto the fabric. If you’re planning to wear it with a shirt, I highly recommend wearing a T-shirt underneath, otherwise it can end up ruining your item. It’s a shame because the formula works well otherwise, but they really should look into a solution for this issue.

Expensive but worth it.
I suffer with hyperhydrosis, have done since being a teen (now late 30s) and have always struggled finding something that works. I settled with a 96hr antiperspirant but after a few years this is no longer working, and I'm at the age where I'm conscious of the aluminium. I was sweating and smelling by 9.30 in the morning and having to reapply multiple times. I've tried deodorants before but they've just never cut it. Having read the reviews I figured I had nothing to lose by trying this, and I'm so glad I did. I'm a week in and have not smelled of b/o once, despite being at work, dancing around the house with the kids, and lugging a toddle around who decided he didn't want to walk anymore on the school run. I have still sweat but nowhere near as much as I thought I would, and actually less than with the antiperspirant. It's been minimal. The first couple of days when I felt myself getting a little damp I was a bit paranoid so reapplied, but once I found the confidence I realised I really didn't have to. Yes it's a little grainy looking but it doesn't feel grainy, they're soft lumps that easily rub away into your skin. I also bought a key from here to help turn it, not the Akt brand, just a generic one for £4 and it really helps. Hopefully it will last a while then I will try another scent. Edit: it's expensive but has lasted me 8 weeks and that's applying twice in the early days until i built up the confidence to realise i really didn't need it as i didnt smell. I'm just about to try another scent. As it got hotter I tried a refillable antiperspirant (sold as the first of its kind) as well as my original antiperspirant and on both occasions I was sweaty but also started smelling, something I haven't once noticed whilst using AKT. I also feel like I was somehow sweating less with the balm than with the antiperspirant but I have no idea how that would work. Anyway, if you're unsure then it's worth a try.

AKT deodorant
Would highly recommend this product. After using sprays and roll on deodorant for years they didn’t always work that effectively. My daughter introduced me to this deodorant and I’ve never looked back. Very effective even at the end of a workout, a long day travelling or some on a hot day. The variety of scents are subtle and fresh smelling. They cause absolutely no skin irritation and l have sensitive skin. The tube itself is strong and sturdy. I would recommend a tube squeezer for ease of use and get the most out of this product. It causes no stains at all on clothing and so easy to apply. I love the fresh feeling at the end of a day. Although it’s more expensive than most deodorants on the market it’s worth it as it’s highly effective. When you do sweat a lot, your armpits can feel a little bit damp but there is no sweat smell at all.

Nice smell, expensive and tube is hard to use
This came out top in a recent consumer survey of natural deodorants. It smells great and doesn’t cause any irritation and is made in the UK. You get about a day’s protection. However, it is horrendously expensive and the metal tube is really hard to squeeze in order to dispense. I suspect the tube will break before I empty it. I like it but just a one-off for me. Not recommended.
