Laken Spanish Bota Bag Leather Canteen for Wine and Water

Made it a month. Used them daily at work. Great product until the leak. Update: my second one did the same. Filled them with h2o. Split and leaked on the bottom. Done.

My bag has several issues.The plastic spout/cap feels flimsy, and mine arrived with a split on the sleeve around where the bag meets the spout.It leaks. I had it on it's side overnight, with water in it. In the morning I noticed there was a dark gradient where the leather had gotten wet around the neck. It doesn't drip, but there must be a tiny pinhole leak where the spout is attached.The inside of the bag smells funky and adds a bad taste to your liquids (just water for me). I rinsed it with hot, mildly soapy water a few times and let it air out for a week. Still smells and tastes bad.The strap is too small for a large man. It was like a necklace to me. Not a huge deal.All-in-all, it is basically functional despite all of these things, but I find myself not really wanting to use it because of the flaws.

I needed a bota bag for a progressive camping trip that I took in rural Mongolia a few weeks ago. The bota bag was the perfect option, and recommended by the guide to carry water during the day. I purchased these based on the reviews posted. To be fair, they are a perfect size, and worked very well. Unfortunately, they weren't terribly durable. And by the end of the 10-day trip, they were both leaking. I would recommend these for gentle, occasional use. If you need something more rugged, I would look into other options.

My wife and I walk 6-7 miles about every other day. I've been looking for a way to easily hydrate along the way and find water bottles a pain to carry. This was the perfect solution. I'd read several reviews of bota bags like this and the typical complaints are that: 1) they leak and 2) the water tastes like the plastic liner. After using this for a month or so now, I can say that mine hasn't suffered from either of those issues. One of the best things about it is that with a little squeeze, I can hydrate while keeping my head level and my eyes on the ground in front of me. (that, and it's kind of fun to shoot the stream into my mouth while I'm walking :-) )

Wow - I wish there were more stars to give! This is the 2Ltr size, and it is not overly large and clumsy. The quality is absolutely incredible, and it actually surprised me. Very well made, high quality leather, a lot of thought went into the design of this product. The strap is loose and there are leather loops that keep it in place, but you have the freedom to slide it back and forth in the loop. The fill nozzle feels secure and is good quality, the drink spout is attached with a cord o you don't lose it. I definitely am ordering a 2nd one. Could not be happier with this product.

Love it, I purchased the 2 L size ,fits a larger 1.5 l bottle wine perfect ,as For smell as some have mentioned I rinsed mine with Hot water several times then let set over night ,repeated and I can say no plastic liner taste or smell,It was filled with a wine taken to a few football tailgates and a couple outdoor gatherings so far this Winter works very well and makes conversation especially with everyone that have never experienced a Bota .

I've Had it for almost a week now, 4 days ago I filled it 3/4 full of water and hung it up, 2 days ago I switched it to hanging upside down...No leaks! It does have a slight plasticy smell, but I believe with a few rinsings it'll go away.

Quality, Quality, Quality. It is simply one of the best devices to drink any manner of drink. There is a twist off cap on it that is the perfect size to fit a funnel for easy filling. once poured. you screw it back on, open the drinking screw off nozzle, and have a great smooth spout of delicious wine, mead or water even!. Perfect for hikes and adventures from the living room to the everglades. This product will not fail and is guaranteed to gain character and love over the years.

I bought this to get an authentic feel when I go camping. The delivery was quicker than first estimated and was packaged well so that when it arrived there was no damage. The actual product is absolutely brilliant and completely surpassed my relatively high expectations. The problem I had in the past was having a weird taste in my water but this one does not. I don't know how it does it but I have found that this canteen does not affect the taste of anything I have but in there. The only bad thing I have to say about the product is that the strap is very thin and when the canteen is full it adds quite a lot of weight and becomes uncomfortable over time. To combat this I just threaded the strap through my backpack straps and it stopped being granted or and became brilliant.Definitely recommend this product to anyone.

I like this old skool style canteen. It does not really look like the picture but its nice. Does have alittle rubber taste in the 1st few drinks but after that it goes away. Its great for going for a walk with.

I've not used it yet as its for a fancy dress day at the British grand Prix (going Mexican for some reason) but it will be filled with tequila and fun will be had. Looks great by the way.

I really love these water bottles but this was my third to develop a leak in just a few weeks. The liners are obviously fragile and prone to splitting. An Aluminium Laken bottle I bought also leaked after a couple of weeks so quality control needs improvement.

Used it 2 times worked amazingly. It has been sat untouched for a month or so, I've come back to it and it leaks?!?! Very disappointed! Hopefully I can het it replaced. Maybe it's just a dodgy one?
