Would recommend
Would recommend this. It arrived quickly, as it was told. When ordering, I expected the quality to be somewhat truly bad (since in the description it said the quality was "acceptable" and we all know that's it's usually way worse in reality). To my pleasant surprise, the disk was really good. The packaging was nice as well. There were a few minor scratches, but nothing to be concerned about. I would definitely call this "great" rather than "acceptable"

Incompatible with Windows 10 out of the box; workaround needed
Does not install on Windows 10! Research before you buy! Not knocking the service down as this is an issue that is out of the seller's control, it's old software. I really think a disclaimer should be on the product info page though, as fair warning to anyone scooping this up out of nostalgia. If you're not comfortable with or capable of using 3rd party software created by the Command & Conquer community to get this running on Windows 10, I'd really advise going for the Origin version instead. Origin is EA's digital distribution platform and I imagine that version works on Windows 10 since they're selling it.To anyone struggling, look up XWIS's multiplayer distributable or CNC Net. CNC Net got me up and running, bless the community.Package arrived on estimated day and in good condition, thank you very much! :-)

The same as tiberian sun i'm afraid
With their new RTS Westwood have obviously listened to the critisism of tiberian and set this title around the red alert theme instead of the awful futuristic storyline of tiberian sun.But once again this game suffers from a number of major flaws, the gameplay is as addictive as the first but too many of the later missions are completed using only the superweapons. Also, the units are all a bit pants and while the infrantry are much improved the tanks with 'special' abilities are rubbish. The best unitis the IFV which changes it powers depending on what you put inside it. ( ie. a sniper and it becomes a long ranged anti-infrantry vehicle)The storyline is much worse as well with the excellent yuri character bringing some interest among a rather bland set of characters. The video sequences also suffer because the acting is atrocious and the storyline ridiculous (even for an RTS).The actual game is nearly as fun as RA 1 at first but soon goes downhill as the only challenge westwood seem able to give you is smaller areas to build your base. The missions once again follow a strict storyline and many of the early scenarios are excellent such as the defence of the tech building in a snowy forest while being bombarded by increasing forces or the abducting of the president using the yuri soldiers in many different ways to sabotage the base and kidnap the president. Most of the levels are excellent but many are poorly thought out and ridiculously easy (Paris with Soviets). The graphics engine, while minutely improved from tib sun still suffers from the flaw of crisp backgrounds and explosions against the incredibly cartoonish units destroying any reality factor there may have been. In RA 1 for example both the units and backgrounds were of a similar quality and even though the visuals are now painfully dated they somehow felt more real than the out-of-place graphics in RA 2.The super weapons add a new dimension but are a bit too powerful and you feel helpless as a lightning storm or atom bomb nearly destroys your whole base. Included in RA 2 are the Chronosphere, the Iron Curtain, Lightning Storm Generator and Nuclear silo.Skirmishes are improved however they still remain much harder than single player against an AI player but against a human are excellent if a little prolonged. An excellent idea of giving each country in skirmish a unique unit is well executed and the units varied and fun. This game is a little too cartoony for my liking and not as enjoyably dark or macabre as the original. The missions are fun but not even close to RA 1 in terms of atmosphere and replayability. If you want a modern game with the style of RA 1 I would advise Earth 2150 I know it's 3D but it still captures the style of the first red alert much better. If you loved tib sun (you rare species) you will love this. If, like me, you thought it was a bit too detached from reality and dull after a while opt for shogun, earth 2150 or the under-rated Force Commander.
