Tired of the factory cups making you sweat while you read a book?
The biggest flaw on the WH-1000MX5 is the ear cups. They seal well and are comfortable. They also make you sweat at rest. These earpads fix this and give you a chance to give your cans a little style. The swap is dead simple with the included pry tool especially if you've swapped cups before. A few clips and you're rocking. These pads are a comfort upgrade only. I've noticed zero difference in audio quality, but that's perfectly fine as they sound awesome as is. I make it a point to change ALL of my earpads to higher quality aftermarket cups. This takes a good pair and makes them a great pair.

Improved Audio and ANC. Keeps ears cool.
I bought these nearly a year ago. They still keep my ears cool while improving the ANC, compared to the ones that came with my headphones. The only issue that I have is that the middle inner lining is falling apart, which is probably from me overusing them.As long as you take care of them, these things will last you for a very long while.

Loud Environment Review
I don't usually write reviews, I am a commercial woodworker, business owner, and very busy. That being said, these are worth my time for someone else's dime. I looked at reviews before buying, couldn't find one that validified my concern, Noise cancellation, and comfort, especially in a hot woodshop.I wear prescription glasses- These vs OEM fit better around my glassesNoise Cancellation - IMPORTANT for me, not a noticeable difference vs OEM in a 80 - 120Db work environment = HAPPY!Cooling - I'm a hot dude, the XM5 Headsets them self when i bought them left me a little disappointed because the OEM pads actually MADE me sweat. These, with a a soft fabric ear contact, and a leather interior, keep sound under control and are an Incredible upgrade for anyone dealing with heat or these making you sweat. No noteworthy sound quality loss or gain with the units output. I really like these.I wear these 12-16 hours a day, Every.. Single.. Day.. Ill update if needed, but for the price... These are a grand slam.Disclaimer, you have to be an idiot to think a headphone ear pad is actually going to provide a lower than ambient temperature than what is produced inside of the enclosed ear area! But for those who I would classify as cuddle sweaters, IYKYK, these eliminate that issue! Leaving a cooler than OEM feeling.-Ryan SHB Co. Barrel and Fine Woodcraft

Extremely more comfortable than the stock pads
I like these so much, I felt obligated to correct the record. I own three sets of Sony headphones and I've replaced the pads on all of them with these. My neighbors make a lot of noise. So, I wear these headphones nearly 24hrs a day, alternating as needed for charging. I wear them for work, off work, and, yes, even when sleeping. Before I found these pads, my ears would get extremely hot and sweaty, to the point being red and inflamed. Afterwards, all those issues went away. I would never actively "get them wet", per another (negative) review. They breathe, allowing any sweat to wick away, disbursing the heat at the same time. The fabric is way more comfortable than the stock vinyl. The pads are thicker than the stock pads, contrary to another (negative) review. Some reviews say the noise cancelling isn't as good because the fabric doesn't provide as good of a seal as the vinyl. That technically might be true, but I can't notice a difference. The only downside I've found is they do wear out, being fabric. I have one set on my White Sony XM5's that are ready to be replaced, which I'm about to order. As long as they don't raise the price, I think these are a must-have.

Not great !!
After 2 hours of using these " cooling " pads and my ears were sweating. Swapped backed to the oem pads and they were much cooler . SAVE YOUR MONEY

Not thicker
I was so pleased with my replacements for my xm4’s that I decided to get these for my xm5’s. Unfortunately, while they are high quality and feel nice, they aren’t thicker and thus do not provide more space for my ears which end up pressing against the hard part of the inside of the headphone.I prefer wearing my xm4’s over my xm5’s from a comfort standpoint.

Perfect solution for people with glasses!
The original XM5 ear pads are super squeaky with glasses. I can’t wear contacts because of my prescription (and I never liked contacts anyway). There is sometimes a little squeaking or creaking with these ear pads, but it is rare and not half as loud as with the original ear pads. I considered the Dekini suede pads, but they are really expensive. I might get them down the road, but these cooling gel ear pads are working just fine.I'll note that when I add the use of cotton glasses ear grips, there’s no squeaking or creaking at all! I got the “Omnful Glasses Ear Cushion Longer Length” and cut the ends off to make them into tubes to fit over the part of my glasses frames that come in contact with the ear pad. I did try this same trick with the original ear pads but it didn’t help at all.I can’t speak to the cooling or sound isolation since I just installed them, and my main purpose for these was to work with my glasses.

Decent quality but ugly look
They add a bit of weight to the otherwise super-light headphones. The sound leaks out a tiny bit more than the OEM ones. The included tools are not the best (they scratched up my OEM ear cups. But most importantly the white color has a very ugly look (the blue foam shows off true the cloth part and looks dirty). They keep cool as promised and overall have a good quality foam inside.
