Will this work for 12" x 16' smart siding?

I don't know if this product will work on a 12" siding although it does have a height adjustment on it, but this product works best with siding up to 8 1/2" X 16'siding.

Does the 7/16 gauge work on 3/8 siding or does one have to get both for that 1/16 difference?

The problem that you would have is that the gauge would not grip the 3/8" siding. You could shim the lower end of the gauge by gluing a 1/16" thick piece of laminate, such as a piece of Formica, to the gauge. Contact adhesive, or double sided tape would likely suffice as an adhesive. That should suffice for your use of the Gecko Gauge.

Will this work with 6" beveled western cedar?

I don’t know what thst looks like but they are adjustable
