Good Value - Decent Pencil
Five stars for value. Let's be honest, these pencils do not compare with the Blackwing, nor do they compare with the Mitsubishi Uni or Tombow Mono-R pencils but you can compare them with the General's Cedar Pointe which I did and these are every bit as good for one fifth the cost. These are also better than the Dixon Ticonderoga. They sharpen well, the wood is pretty good and the core feels on par with a standard HB or #2 pencil, not real soft or too hard either. There is a little feedback (scratch) when writing but that is to be expected from these and some folks like that. The wood is spliced with some of the pencils I received but I'm not going to complain about that in a 17 cent pencil. In quality, if the Palomino Blackwing is a Mercedes and the Mitsubishi Uni is a Cadillac, these are a Toyota, not a Hundai. The pencils from Staples are a Yugo. Don't do it. These are just my opinions. Your mileage may vary.

Great quality for the price
Surprisingly good pencils, good erasers too. Made in the USA with... mostly USA parts, but it works for me. The graphite sharpens well and is about average in time to dull; don't expect the tip to last like a premium art brand. I usually use mechanical pencils, Sakura Mircon pens, etc, but these are easier to write with and are less anxiety-inducing because the lines are thicker and don't cut into the paper like my mechanicals. They smell amazing too, but I can't comment on the taste.

Best pencils around!
After trying so many brands of pencils, I can say we've finally found the best! No other brand compares to these. I used to buy the Dixon brand, thinking they were the best, but found those to break constantly and the paint would chip off as you wrote. Not these pencils. The only time we have to sharpen them is when the lead gets dull and gone are the days of the lead breaking off and getting pencil pant all over your hands. We also love that they are made in the USA with natural woods.
