They beat the upper deck on bus to Skegness!
Review: Sony XM6 HeadphonesBy Me (on a very human, very damp bus to Skegness)There are few places on Earth that make you question the trajectory of your life quite like the bus to Skegness. You board it with hope, or at least curiosity, and within minutes find yourself quietly Googling “how long can a person survive in enclosed spaces with other people’s feet.”It was 27 degrees outside, but inside the bus it felt like a warm gym sock left on a radiator. The windows were technically open, but this achieved nothing beyond circulating the air in a way that made the smell of sweat and hot meat swirl around like some malevolent ghost. Someone near the back was eating a doner kebab at 10:17 a.m., and the scent of garlic, polyester, and ambient anxiety hung heavy.A boy of about eight was throwing jelly sweets at people’s heads. His siblings joined in, turning the aisle into a soft, sugary battleground. Their mother, three seats away and deep into a vaping session, seemed entirely at peace, like a woman on a silent retreat—albeit one that smelled faintly of mango ice and detachment.Meanwhile, a shirtless man in cargo shorts got on at Horncastle and began airing his armpits in front of the onboard fan. There isn't an onboard fan. I still don't know what he was doing or thinking. His back tattoos told a complicated story involving wolves, flames, and what I think was the word “loyalty” spelled incorrectly. And that’s when I remembered: the Sony XM6 headphones.I slipped them over my ears like someone putting on noise-cancelling hope. A soft chime, and then—Silence. Not the kind of silence you find in a museum or a church, but a deeper, more intimate silence. The kind that wraps around your skull like velvet and whispers, You’re safe now. You don’t have to hear any of this anymore. Then I tapped play.Simon & Garfunkel.“The Sound of Silence.”The irony was almost too delicious to bear. I looked out the window and imagined I was gliding through a quiet Scandinavian forest, rather than bouncing down a B-road in Lincolnshire surrounded by half-naked sun-seekers with Bluetooth speakers clipped to their belt loops. The sound was pure—warm and expansive, like the inside of an acoustic guitar made of clouds. Art’s harmonies floated effortlessly above Paul’s voice, and I heard details in the music I’d never caught before: the brush of fingers on strings, the soft intake of breath before a verse. It felt… sacred. The touch controls were absurdly responsive. A light tap here, a swipe there, and I was skipping songs and adjusting volume with the kind of grace I usually reserve for things like opening biscuits quietly in public. The battery lasted the entire journey and then some. We were rerouted due to a parade of tractors—this apparently happens—and then made an unscheduled stop in what I can only describe as a car park that smelled like ham and The Springfield Tire Yard. The XM6s powered through. They didn’t just endure the trip. They shielded me from it.So yes. If you’re preparing for the psychological obstacle course that is the Skegness bus—complete with unruly children, indifferent vape-parenting, and shirtless men airing themselves like laundry—get the Sony XM6s.They won’t change the world. But for a few glorious hours, they’ll let you pretend you live in a better one. 10/10

A wonderful relaxing, fatigue free listen.
These are my very first pair of Bluetooth headphones and I am mighty impressed.I read lots of reviews of other brands to compare but I thought I would trust brand loyalty.I bought these to listen to music via my iPhone 15 ProMax whilst out traveling or walking. I am an old customer of Sony wired headphones, going way back to to the Sony Walkman days of the early 1980s and have always enjoyed that particular sound. I still own a good functioning pair of the MDR-V7 which I use for monitoring recording and I do like easy driving efficiency of all my past wired models. These new XM6 phones have not failed to impress!I like the way you do not have to have them turned uploud to get enjoyment from music, I am 71 but still amstill blessed with good sharp hearing.Nice all round frequency response, good bass and good clarity in the upper frequencies. I have purchased separately, an iFi Go Link Max DAC Dongle to listen at home to hi res albums on my iPhone via the optional wire connection which shows these phones to even better advantage.I DO.. like the indiscreet look and size of these comfortable phones, they do not shout out “Steal Me!”to potential felonsThey are a very relaxing listen and easy to fall asleep to when lying down as I found out earlier! All in all, an excellent purchase, well done Sony!

Upgrade on my XM3s in every respect
Wow! I have been using my XM3s for about six years now and they have been brilliant. Having read the reviews for the XM6s I decided to jump in straight away. I have not been disappointed as they out-perform my old phones in nearly every way. Most importantly the sound is a massive upgrade with deeper bass, clearer mids and a better high end. In addition, they work better on video calls with a much clearer quality to them (I hadn’t rally noticed that the old ones were bad). They are also more comfortable and while they do have a stronger clamp this, for me, is not uncomfortable… it fact they feel far more secure and fit my quite big head very well. I have had these on a few long train journeys and the noise cancelling is absolutely exceptional as well. All in all these are now the best headphones that I have owned taking comfort, practicality, features and sound into account.
