When Christopher Columbus first arrived on the shores of Puerto Rico (Originally, he had named the island San Juan Bautista in honor of Saint John the Baptist) on 19 November 1493, he came upon the Taino Indians while they were feasting on Coco Rico soda cans picked freshly off Coco Rico palm trees. He was promptly invited to partake in a binge drinking contest. It is reported that the Taino Cacique, Agueybana, had shot-gunned almost 14 cans in a mere 23 seconds. Back then, the cans that grew on the trees were 44oz. That right there is an awesome feat in itself. During the Golden Age of Piracy in the Caribbean, Coco Rico was the most sought out item... even more than gold and jewels. According to local legends, the pirate Roberto Cofresí (June 17, 1791 - March 29, 1825), better known as "El Pirata Cofresí", has a stash of cans hidden in a cave on the island. To this day, that stash has not yet been discovered. As you can see, this is most definitely the best soda in the world... maybe even in the universe.
