VLM-520-27 LPA Green Line Laser Module, Direct Green Laser Diode, Class I, Line Width 3.5mm @10m, 520nm, 90 Emitting Angle

I have purchased 5 of the VLM-520-27 LPA round brass body green line lasers. All where packaged well in an anti-static bag with labels. I tested these lasers in comparison with each other using same 8.4vdc Li battery source. Differences are relatively indistinguishable in brightness, focus/distance and line clarity/sharpness. Two of the five lasers seemed to shift towards shorter wavelength producing more greener color than the other three. All lasers drew approx 70mA from same source and had very minimal (if noticeable at all) beam artifacts. I feel these are actually much better in terms of function versus the more expensive and slightly finer VLM-520-37 LPA with a precision square body.

We had these running 24/7 for a few years before burning out. some of them are still going after more than 3 years!

The headline says it all. If you use it indoors, it's fine. But I wanted it to be much brighter. If you purchase the recommended "farhop" aluminum mount, you'll have to bore out the mount to 1/2". Aluminum is soft, and it's easy to size up the mount to fit the laser. In the pics, you'll see I attached it to a secure piece of wood to make it easier to hold the mount steady.

I purchased two of these from Quarton USA. I purchased a third unit from AixiZ. The units from Quarton USA were as described in the spec sheets and performed very well. The laser line was bright, uniform and narrow (3mm) at thirty feet. The unit came prefocused, sealed with an epoxy filler in a brass outer case. This makes it shock resistant, waterproof and usable in harsh environments. The quartz cylindrical line lens creates a sharp line without the interference pattern that is typical of wavy lenses. The unit is expensive but I think it's worth the money for my uses. It's definitely a scientific/industrial caliber product. The module from AixiZ was so different from the item description that it was unrecognizable. It was nickel plated, focusable and incorporated a cheap plastic wavy lens. The line had strong interference patterns and it was impossible to focus sharply. The line would shift position with the slightest tap. The laser was about 1/3 the brightness of the genuine Quarton unit. The wires came out the back through an open hole and there was no epoxy filling. It was similar to the units available on ebay for $2. When I requested a refund they complied immediately and told me to keep the unit. That told me a lot about how much they thought it was worth. I highly recommend the Quarton USA version but do not recommend buying from AixiZ.

Complete and utter garbage. Probably unsafe as well. This is one of maybe 3 reviews I’ve ever posted and couldn’t be more disappointed. Soldered proper connections using 20g solid wire. Heat shrunk etc. Powered with a variable dc power supply giving almost exactly 7v. As you can see in the pictures they giving varying degrees of brightness. Some lines are nearly 1” wide, at only the distance across my garage (about 18ft). Some are 1/8th inch. They also got so hot I couldn’t touch them. Waste of my time soldering and planning. Back to the drawing board. These were purchased for Halloween and sadly doesn’t look like I’ll be using them.

When I received this laser module, my first impression is it appears very professional. It was packed in an anti-static bag with a laser safety sticker. The green laser line is very sharp at 5 yards, even can be seen outdoor. And, the laser line is perfect straightness. It was made from a direct green laser diode, not DPPS green laser, I was surprised it even worked below zero degrees without any problem. I used it as a guideline indoor open space without any air conditioner and it works fine all the time.

I bought the "user's also buy" mount to go with this laser. It was a 12mm T-block with 12mm hole and a bolt to clamp the hole tight "farhop 12mm industrial aluminum...". The laser says 12.5mm diameter which is a tad under 1/2". I used a 1/2" twist drill to bore out the another .6mm (1/2" is 12.6mm) and the clamp works just fine.
