I use this to open rolls of film when I’m ready to develop them. This thing does exactly what it promises.

This thing just does what it says on the tin. Easily opens 35mm canisters in the dark without any fuss. Far better than using a bottle opener and more reliable than trying to extract the leader. Nicely finished (powder coat?) and feels good in the hand for a simple piece of cut and bent sheet steel. Highly recommended.

This is a nice heavy film canister opener but I am missing my right pinky and have overall poor hand strength so it makes it difficult for me to use it effectively. I am used to the openers we had in the 70’s that were longer and could provide better leverage. That said, if your hands are good, it may work perfectly well for you

If you lost the leader and want to develop your film or use partial roll from a FACTORY cassette, this will open, but DESTROY the cassette. I used to be able to open them by tapping one end on the table , but all that changed decades ago. Can openers used to work, but no longer.

Good film opener and also a good bottle opener if you don't have one on hand!

Game changer. There was a point in time in which I was in my dark bag struggling to open the top of the film canister this thing actually makes things so much easier. this little CanOpener goes on top of the film canister it literally just popped it open in one easy motion. Strongly recommend this item.

I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong but it seems that about half the time I use it it’ll either slip off the canister or sometimes open it. Bear in mind you need to use a lot of force for this, whereas other ones are quite easy to use. Was an unfortunate waste but it’s what I have so I’ll bear with it.

It does what it is supposed to do. I don't have any complains.

… and reminds me of my honeymoon in Skegness. Doreen was struck down with an upset tummy after eating a dodgy whelk. It seems the landlady had taken a dislike to me and then the plates got mixed up. There was a dreadful row about some nasty marks on the curtains and it didn’t stop raining for the entire week. When we got back home we discovered we’d left the iron on the whole time we were away. How awful. Have since bought a puppy and we go to Southport instead.

Always the worst part of developing film - popping open the canister with a bottle opener! Leads to frustration at best and grazed fingers at worst!This thing is a dream to use - if you know someone who develops 35mm film and doesn't have one they will thank you for this!
