Montblanc 14311 MST 2 Pen Pouch Clasp Black

I didn't think that I would be capable of loving a pen case, but here we are.I have two Montblanc 146 fountain pens that I love, but they needed a home. I'm not going to sit here and try to convince you that this is somehow a case that is superior to other pen cases (the Pelikan case is far cheaper and almost as nice), because it isn't. You aren't really getting more for your money. Once you get past a certain price point with anything, you're paying for looks, and that's exactly why I bought this case instead of all of the others you can get for much cheaper. I just happen to like the Montblanc leather stuff and the way it looks over the other cases. It took me almost a month to choose this case, due to lack of reviews, but I'm really happy I chose this case.AESTHETICSOpening the box, I was very impressed. This really looks and feels looks as expensive as it is, which is always nice when you buy expensive things. The leather is very rigid, actually much more so than I had anticipated. I half-expected it to be a softer case, with a floppy leather flap that you had stick under the loop. Thankfully, this isn't the case at all. I would describe this case as very minimalist in style when compared to other pen cases.The case has a nice faint leather smell, but doesn't reek of leather like some other pen cases I've had tend to do. The finish on the leather is incredibly uniform, which is a full-grain calfskin. It doesn't pick up fingerprints or leave marks, and it doesn't scratch easily at all. One thing that really impressed me was the attention to detail on things like the stitching and edges. I can't find a single messed up stitch, rough edge, or a mistake anywhere.FUNCTIONALITYThis case is actually a lot smaller in person than I thought it would be for some reason, and in a good way. I wanted something that wasn't going to be a monster to lug around, and I almost opted for the one-pen case for that very reason. I'm glad I got this one, because it's the perfect size. It comfortably holds my two 146s, and they don't touch in the middle.You might be wondering if the thing even protects your pens, after all of this silly aesthetic talk. The answer is yes, it does. While this is not a "hard case", the leather is so rigid that it's going to give you very appropriate protection as long as you aren't bringing your pens to a destruction derby in the desert or dropping them off a cliff. This is the type of case that you toss in your shoulder bag or briefcase without worry.All in all, I'm really pleased with this purchase. I don't often buy stuff straight from Montblanc because their pricing tends to be a bit outrageous (and the very limited warranty really isn't enough to pay full price), BUT...if I was unable to find this in stock from Amazon I would probably pay full price for this item. Why? Because I will use it daily and I can tell this case is meant to last a really long time.Basically, if you're on the fence about this case, but don't mind spending a bit more money, then I would tell you to absolutely go for it.

This is the 2nd one I've purchased...it's just like you would purchase from a montblanc store. They are beautiful cases. And come right away.

I bought 2 pens from montblanc and one of them I used to carry it in my pant’s pocket, unfortunately I broke one of them and the repair was very expensive, decided to buy the pouch and it helps to keep the appearance of the instrument really well.
