Almost perfect.
Bought the BITFUNX GDEMU V5.20b Optical Drive Simulation Board for my son's Dreamcast. The board itself works great but some of the accessories that came with it don't fit. The heatsinks don't fit with the plastic cover it came with. I've left the heatsinks off but the machine runs beautifully otherwise.

Awesome upgrade for my DC!
This was about as easy a mod of this type as you could expect. As mentioned in other reviews, the ribbon cable for the card reader may feel like it doesn't fit as the pieces are going together - but it does, just with the ribbon cable at an odd angle. Operation on my NTSC Dreamcast has been flawless. Ordering the version with the flash card was helpful as it gave me an opportunity to "test things out" with a known working card. I did end up putting together my own 256GB card. A great mod for Dreamcast fans - I purchased my console back in the day for Crazy Taxi, but am interested in exploring more of the DC library!

Brilliant device, must buy if you love the Dreamcast
Brilliant piece of tech. Kit installs very easily and works flawlessly. Only issue is when you install the ribbon extension there is almost no gap and you have to bend it almost 180 degrees. This is inviting a wire short over time. I used a file to widen the gap so the bend can be less sharp and puts less strain on the cable. As for the emu, it emulates the gd-rom perfectly. Itโs worth downloading a different GUI that allows you to see the games in a more organized library. But even the included firmware breathes endless life into the Dreamcast. If youโre a retro gamer, this is worth every penny

Good times
Instructions aren't the best but ok. Overall installation was easy. The included heatsinks don't allow you to install the top cover. Gave up trying and placed a large themal pad over the 2 chips to keep them cool. Otherwise everything else is great.

Works as intended, with a few caveats
With the original GDEMU virtually impossible to obtain, this clone by BITFUNX gets the job done...with some finagling. The instructions provided with the kit are vague, so I recommend checking out an install video. That said - installation is simple, even if you have no prior experience opening up a console and replacing components. The SD Card Extender didn't work for me at first; I'm mainly here to spread the word about the r/dreamcast thread "A Fix For SD Card Extenders Not Working in GDEMU," which suggests a simple masking tape fix to shore up the ribbon cable's connector to the slot on the GDEMU. My extender now works thanks to this. The 3D printed housing makes for a tight fit inside the console's shell - it definitely feels like it's stuffed in there, and this strain may be of concern to you if you have a limited edition console. While this piece of the install can be excluded, it does help direct airflow through the console in a manner similar to the original drive. When you purchase a clone device, you can expect things to be a little off. But it ultimately works, and I've had no compatibility issues with games during my time with it.

good gd drive replacement
Works well, good drive replacement. Needs sd card formatted correctly and depending on size of card, may require trial and error

Works well, tricky install though
Product works well, but the instructions are pretty crummy. Ignore the heatsink and the install video linked, and follow the card instructions. If you get stuck take note of the various positions in the diagrams and try to line them up as best as possible. Seller should work on better instructions, as the heatsink is not compatible with the plastic GDROM insert. But once it's installed it works like a charm!
