For the price, this thing works ridiculously well. It will slow down noticeably while you're centering 6 lbs or more, but once your clay is centered, you're not going to be applying much force while pulling walls so it's not an issue. The minimum speed is maybe 40 rpm, which is generally much slower than I ever need. It won't slow to a crawl like a Shimpo, but it's like 1/8th the cost. For a beginner/intermediate potter, it's perfect. If you're a professional, you want a $1000 wheel.

This wheel was designed for student and home production use. It is reliable and simple. Speed is variable but pedal reverts to stop so you must press or put a block under it to stay steady. You can throw consistently.

Such a beautiful piece. We obviously haven't used it yet as we just got it but we expect it to work excellently as it seems to be well built.

I really like this wheel. I am teaching myself to throw watching YouTube. This wheel is heavy duty. Mine was quiet. I know some are not. So I got lucky there. But this has one major issue that I did find a hack for. The splash pan is impossible to take off and put on. I looked it over carefully and figured out it was a design flaw in the clips that hold the 2 pieces together. They made it with no space for the clip to widen to release the round tab. I used my pocket knife and whittled away at the space on the sides of the clips. When I had widened it enough to fit a little rasp in there, I widened it some more that way. Once that was widened enough for the clip to open, it snaps on and off securely. I don't know why they dont make it with bat pins. That'll be another hack I'll have to do, I guess.

I am very pleased with my purchase. However, I’m no expert. I haven’t thrown anything on a wheel in 50 years so with that said I still am very pleased with the speed and functionality.
