Optimistic....... (but oh dear)
UPDATE POST USEI returned from the festival yesterday and oh dear!I really wanted this product to be excellent but it wasn't.The battery that was to provide the secondary charge point, didn't hold a charge or appear to work in anyway. When you plug it in, to either the panel or the mains, a red light shows, and 3 blue lights blink in turn and that's it. When you then plug it into your phone, there's nothing. No lights no charge, despite pressing the power button. As for the panel itself. In cloudy conditions it will hold the charge, i.e. doesn't increase or decrease over time. In direct sunlight it charged my Samsung OK, but we tried 3 different iPhones and none of them would work as it said "the accessory is not supported".A real shame, but I will be returning this as it simply doesn't work.ORIGINAL POST BELOWI'm off to a festival at the weekend with the family and my daughters were insistent that we needed a solar charger for their mobile phones.I ordered this lunchtime Monday and thanks to my Prime membership it arrived on Tuesday, securely packaged and on time. There are 3 main components with this charger. The charging mat, a USB to micro USB cable and a battery pack. There are also 4 karabiner style clips to attach to your rucksack, tent etc.Your phone or battery can be stored securely in a mesh zipped pocket located on the other side of the panels, which is then sealed by a velcro cover. This pocket also contains the usb plug that you connect your cable too.The dual charging nature of this product is different to most as you can charge from the battery (which you can charge at home via a USB plug charger or in your car) or directly from the solar. How this will work over the weekend at the festival will be interesting as when the battery is flat we'll need to charge that from the solar panel and will be unable to dual charge another mobile. The battery will be useful away from the solar panel and will be used far more as we can charge it at home and leave in a car or the wife's handbag and know we have additional "charge" when it may be needed. At present I've rated as a 4 as out of the box and with some initial testing at home under a cloudy sky, the pad did charge my mobile (slowly) and it worked again this morning under bright sunlight much better. It's currently charging my 10inch tablet under direct sunlight from flat.Once this is complete and I'm back from the festival I'll update the review.
