Like other reviewers, I saw mixed reviews on this product but decided to take a chance because I've always had a positive association with the Sunbeam brand. That said...what a huge disappointment this product is! I purchased it on September 6, 2019 and have only "used" it (read: "tried to use it") twice in the 6 weeks I've had it. The first time it worked as expected. It helped with my muscle tightness and I didn't need to keep using it, so I put it away. The second time (yesterday) I turned it on and it heated quickly. I put it on my shoulders and within 5 minutes noticed that I wasn't feeling any heat. The unit had turned off. I turned it back on, but it barely got warm and then turned off again within 10 minutes. I unplugged it from the outlet and unplugged and replugged the power cord from the unit itself. Plugged it back into the outlet and turned it back on with the same result. The unit barely warmed at all. My "window of return" for Amazon expired on October 6, so I guess I'm stuck with this useless item. And I still don't have a heating pad. Sunbeam, if you read your product reviews, please remove this dud product from the market and try again.

I have nuts bolts and spacers in my neck. When things flare, I tried those microwave bags, they work for 10 minutes and that is it. Tried this item with great hope, but wish I read more than top suggested reviews. It got warm, luke warm at best. I did not get any relief. I ended up using the stupid thing to hold a working heating pad in place. Tried it for 3 days and gave up. Great design in every part but the heating element. It stayed in place, it was weighted in right spot, but did not do the job. * If anyone finds a good product leave a comment.

UPDATE: I loved mine so much I purchased a second for my elderly mother. Now I am having issues with the heating mechanism not working properly with mine. Within minutes of turning the unit on, it heats up and then begins to cool down to a level of barely any heat can be felt. Highly disappointed in purchase. ORIGINAL: Though I have only used it for about a week, so far I am very pleased with the design, heat output, weight, and size of the heating pad. It definitely puts out evenly distributed heat, including the neck flap. I like the magnetic closure in the front, and the flexible piece inside which can be contoured close to the neck. Overall it has a good weight and the size is more than generous. The electrical cord is plenty long enough. I have worn it in both directions so the cord comes off the side of my outlet source with no difference in heat intensity felt against the skin. Sunbeam definitely put some thought into the design of this heating pad, hoping now the durability is the same. Only Con which is only personal preference and not worth removing a star- I wish it had a separate On/Off switch instead of having to cycle through the heat settings to turn it off.

At first I LOVED this for my neck pain, telling a friend I finally found what I was looking for. A short 2 weeks later, and it stopped getting hot. I mean not even warm. So sad.

The heating pad works great BUT when it stopped working I got no help from Amazon or Assurion since the product was still under warranty. After filing a claim I had to call three times to get a status. On the third call the rep said oh I just put in your order for a replacement. When I got the replacement it did not work. I responded to the email about my order and heard nothing back. So now I have to mage numerous calls and what are they going to send me another one that does not work. It’s not worth hr. Buy the PURE product line. Sane products better customer service and support

I am very disappointed with this neck and shoulder heating pad. It heats up nicely and covers my neck which is the prime reason I bought this. What is very disappointing is that it only stays on no longer than 25 minutes. Then I have to unplug it to reset it. There is no option to set the timer. I suffer from severe migraines which shoots up into my eye. I have arthritis in the neck which swells and makes contact with my nerves. The pain feels like eating a chunk of ice and ice hitting nerves in teeth. It is excruciating pain and I suffer from migraines 7days a week, 24 hours a day and need to give myself injections 3 times a week or take imitrex pills but I cannot take imitrex 7 days a week. Bad for the heart but so is 4 ibuprofen every four hours. I am sending this thing back.

It worked great for 2 years, then died suddenly. All I get now is a red flashing light. After searching through the reviews, it seems that this is fairly common. It DOES have a 5 year warranty, but many reviewers report that Sunbeam makes the warranty process as difficult as possible, and they often refuse to honor the warranty. If Sunbeam wants to reach out and send me a new one, I'll update my review, but I'm not holding my breath. Meanwhile, I will never purchase a Sunbeam product again.

I live in South Africa and have chronic neck / shoulder problems, which require heat. Bean and wheat bags do not work, and I have tried other locally available heat products to no avail. This product came highly recommended on Amazon and looked ideal, hence I purchased it - with the current ZAR/USD exchange rate and courier costs it did not come cheap. On its highest setting, it only heats up to lukewarm, and does not give off enough heat to make any real difference. This purchase for me has been a waste of money as there is no local branch to which I can return it - I needed the product to enable me to work at my PC while providing heat, but I shall have to revert back to lying down with a hot-water bottle at intervals (ie - interrupted work and cumbersome inconsistent heat supply for my neck/shoulders)
