The serrated edge is actually pretty meaty and can do a number on limbs and small trees.This is a small machete with a little heft to it - definitely not my first choice for a middle of nowhere situation but still pretty great.Somewhat sharp out of the box, but can definitely use some sharpening. One thing is that when this arrived the blade did see scratched up with some possible wear. That was a little disappointing.I would have like it if this had a lanyard on it, but that can be added after the fact. Nice and grippy and will stay tactile when things get sweaty.Overall, I'm happy with this.I hope you liked my review. From initial look to hard use I am satisfied with this machete. The sheath is thick and structured, with confident slide in and lock. The handle is well textured and grippy for my barehand and works great with my gloves. The blade itself came sharp and held up for a few weeks of hard use, decent edge retention. I just resharpened it and it is easily back to full cutting form. I tried the saw on the back and I think it is nice to have in a pinch, but I'm finding that I maybe would have slightly preferred to not have the saw, so that I could push the back of the blade if needed and so that it would slide into the sheath a little smoother. Given that, the saw does work okay if I really needed it, and I love when my tools can cover multiple overlapping uses.

I bought this to help with a sod install and it was worthless. If you sharpen it good Im sure it could perform better. Its also really light that doesnt give a good blow to what youre trying to cut like a machette should.
