Powerful Pigment, PLEASE remember your gloves!
For someone who really loves stretching out hair appointments for color, I'm always on the lookout for a product that is going to keep my hair vibrant but also not ruin it. Overtone really hits the mark with that challenge, it has a fresh minty scent too which is a relief as I've learned a lot of these products leave little to be desired when it comes to scents. It also left my hair so soft and shiny while also depositing powerful pigment, which lasted for multiple washes after using it the first time. My only word of advice is USE GLOVES, this product is very pigmented but that also means it will stain anything it touches that isn't your hair.

Very purple hair and no purple bathroom
My daughter loves Overtone! And I do too! As so many teenagers do these days my daughter loves to change up her hair color on a regular basis and this is the most gentle and easy way to make hair changes. My daughters hair is a medium brown and we worried that the purple would show up more blue but it came out very purple and it’s so easy to apply. We’ve done other color products and inevitably the color gets all over the bathroom. This color is thick and covers well and doesn’t drip all over. It’s a great way to change up hair color and experiment!

Hydrating and Rich!
Overall, I like this product! I ordered the cherry chestnut color, and it came out a warm, red-toned brown. TLDR: I think they could benefit from more specific directions, and it would be ideal if the product came with disposable gloves, but it feels hydrating without weighing my hair down, and the color is lovely. It took a bit of trial and error to get the application right. The first time I did it, I just applied it straight onto dried hair and left it for 10 minutes as instructed. The color wasn’t very vibrant or consistent, but it still left my hair soft and shiny. The second time I tried, I split my hair into sections and focused more on even distribution. I also left it on for about 30 minutes instead of 10. This gave my hair a very shiny, rich color. I have a lot of long hair, and I was able to get 2 uses out of this container. BEWARE: this product is VERY staining. It stained my floors, towels and clothes during application, and stained my bathtub while washing it out. I was able to get most of it off my skin by scrubbing with rubbing alcohol, but I HIGHLY recommend getting gloves.

Fun Color with Zero Damage 💜
Really loved this Overtone Indigo Iris conditioner! The color comes out vibrant but not overpowering, and it makes my hair feel super soft and healthy. No damage at all, just smooth, nourished hair. Easy to use, smells nice, and I love that it’s vegan and cruelty-free. Great option if you want fun color without the commitment! 💜

I really wanted to love Overtone
I was looking for an easy self-apply, healthy and gentle product for my hair. Overtone came up in my search. I will start by saying the smell was minty and fresh and it made my hair baby soft. My hair looked nice and cleansed, refreshed in some sense. However, I had trouble getting color pigment in my hair. I had to leave it in for an hour a second time to grasp some color and apply very heavy handed. I would say after multiple attempts the product did seem to blend my roots with my colored hair somewhat but I wouldn’t say it’s saturated. The application is thick and clay like and wasn’t really easy for me to apply. It seemed to stain just about everything besides my hair lol. It never really seems to wash out of my hair after washing multiple times. Sink, bath and hands (gloves applied) but even just the water washing out stained my hands/nails. A lot of clean up needed and messy product. I am left feeling conflicted but it just doesn’t seem to be the product for me. No harm done but just not the color deposit and application process and cleanliness that I’m looking for.

Great toning, lots of gray covered, and lasts a long time
I used this Overtone Espresso Brown Color Depositing Mask on my husband’s hair. He has naturally black hair with a lot of gray, and it toned the gray really well, blending it naturally with the rest of his hair. The result looked soft and natural, not harsh like regular hair dye. Another big plus is the size of the container. The jar is large and will last a long time, especially compared to regular hair dye that usually only lasts for one use. This makes it very convenient and cost-effective for ongoing maintenance. On top of that, his hair felt soft, healthy, and shiny after using it. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an easy, gentle way to tone gray hair at home.

Lilac Lotus is my holy grail product for
Ok, first off, you should know that I have dark brown wavy hair with lots of grays coming in, probably 30% of new growth. Never dyed. Was going to grow in the gray. But the silver white hairs were SO stark. I thought I'd try a lavender conditioner for a fun color while I transitioned. But what it actually does is different, and super awesome! It doesn't look purple. It makes my hair look cool toned all over. The grays take on a smoky look. The grays are not hidden but they look more like gray highlights than white strands. All in all its subtle and flattering. I love this stuff.

Not as vibrant as expected but left hair soft, shiny, and healthy with a nice tint
First attempt ever trying to dye my hair on my own. Overall, pretty good experience! Usually I get it done in a salon and usually get balayage / highlights but I wanted to try out and see how I liked lilac purple with a semi permanent temporary tint before committing to paying hundreds of dollars for it. I definitely could’ve left it on a bit longer, but I wanted to play on the safe side. Still, I was thinking it would’ve turned out a bit more vibrant but you can still pretty clearly see the light purple stands where I had bright blonde highlights. It didn't affect my natural/virgin hair as much, just kind of acted like a cool toner. I sprayed my hair with a bit of water to help blend it in even though it said to apply to dry hair, so maybe that made a different in how much pigment my hair actually absorbed. Not sure how long it will last, but it was pretty easy and wasn’t too messy of an experience. It smells minty like others have mentioned, and made my hair really soft and shiny. Love that it’s cruelty free and gentle ingredients. I used about half the whole jar and will likely use the rest to touch it up.

Did not damage my hair, Its nice. I have thick curly hair and the bottle only lasted 2 uses and was not enough to apply. I had pink highlights that wore off and I thought this would restore my pink highlights but it didn’t. It just added a tiny bit of color that wasn’t really that noticeable. I wouldn’t buy this again but I think it’s a good product overall. Just not what’s promised.
