So I wanna preface this with, I upgraded for the original instinct. I had that watch for 8 years, nothing was wrong with it but it was time for an upgrade. The instinct 3 is everything I loved about the original and more. The MIP display is so much better. It’s easy to use, the buttons were the same as my old one. The great update I got was battery life, going from charging once a week to once a month ( depending on use and solar charging ) the battery lasted a whole 100km ultra with everything turned on. I did debate between the 45mm and 50mm for a while before choosing size but I’m glad I went for the 45. Unless you have massive wrists you don’t need the 50mm. The sizing is great and it’s so lightweight I don’t even notice it. It’s a great watch, does everything I want and more.

Anyone thinking of getting this watch like I was for its ability to be totally private on graphene OS and not link to the Garmin app and use gadgetbridge instead, it works perfectly. Was easy to set up. Dead pleased. Watch is good too.

This was a purchase to upgrade from another Garmin smartwatch. Was definitely worth it, for the enhanced and extra features. I’ve had it almost a month now, not plugged it in to charge it yet and still have 9 days battery left. The solar charging function is brilliant.

I brought the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar after my Fitbit Sense 2 kept dying randomly through the day. I liked the battery life of the Fitbit and Googled other watches that have a good battery life and I chose the Instinct 3 Solar. I have been wearing it now for 3 weeks and 3 days, my battery level is on 92% - 37 days. During the week I'm in the office so if it sees any natural light it's during the hour I have lunch. On the weekends I'm outside more so it's a little higher. The lowest I've seen the battery is 89%. I will point out that I'm disabled and I do not use every feature of the watch past the walking exercise. The watch is nice and chunky and your not likely to damage the screen by accident. It was on sale when I got it and it was not much more that a replacement Fitbit sense 2 which was £229. So yeah definitely value for money. I do expect to have to charge it at some point, especially in the winter. But if you are someone who is outdoor a lot and active there's no telling how long the battery will last. I didn't think I would every use the built-in light be it's actually really handy! The Garmin app is very good but I have also used the Health Connect setting on my phone to let it also sync with Google Health as that's what I have been used to for the last few years.

A generally good watch, which majors on sport and navigation, but with a drawback. It is not compatible with a pacemaker. It cannot provide sleep metrics due to the electrical stimulation of the pacemaker. Had it done so, a 5* rating would have been appropriate.

Better than previous version. Solar seems to work better or more easily. The flashlight is quite bright! Altogether a great step up from previous generation!!

I liked them, so I’m giving 5 stars, though there are a few flaws. They aren't as super-durable as promised; if you work with your hands and stick them into places an average person wouldn't, the watch can get scratched—though maybe that’s just an issue with the yellow version. Also, the step counter overestimates by 5–10%. And it’s unclear where it gets the weather data from, as it differs from the readings on my phone.And yes, I still haven't had to charge it since the initial charge

Alırken bence 45mm olanını tercih edin çünkü bileğim büyük olmasına rağmen bende bile kocaman duruyor. Ayrıca kutunun içerisinden çıktıktan sonra güncellemeyi önce uygulama sonra bilgisayarsan Garmin Express ile yapmanız gerekiyor, yoksa şarj süresi 5-10 gün görünüyor.

My priorities for a smart watch: 1) long battery life that I can use to track week-long backpacking trips. 2) a display that I can ALWAYS read. I don't like waiting for a display to light up; I don't need colors. 3) something that doesn't need to be charged often so I can sleep with it for my morning alarm and sleep tracking. My previous watch was an Amazfit Bip S (with a MIP display). It recently died after 4 years of use. I was looking for more to replace it. I compared 5 watches with MIP displays: Garmin Instinct 3 Solar and 2 Solar, Coros Pace 3, Suunto Vertical and 9 Peak Pro. The Garmin Instinct 3 was noticeably better than the Instinct 2: a crisper and more reflective display, better solar charging, snappier response (I noticed a little bit of lag switching screens sometimes), and that torch! Feature-wise and software, they looked identical. I think it wouldn't be worth upgrading from the Instinct 2, but since I was replacing a watch, the improvements in the Instinct 3 are worth the price difference. I wasn't going to go cheap if either Garmin was better than the others. (The Fenix is beyond what I want to spend.) The Instinct (both 2 and 3) is a cut above the Coros or Suunto in several ways: 1) while the display is smaller, it had a more reflective display that was easier to read in any light. Both 2 and 3 are more reflective than the others actually. (See attached photo.) 2) while the Garmin watch faces are not as pretty or even in color, almost all of the display fields on the watch face can be customized. I spent a while looking for watch faces for the Suunto and Coros with the fields I want and never found the "perfect" one, but with the Instincts, I could just select the data I want and place them on the screen. 3) the activity data screens are also very customizable with lots of options to choose from. I couldn't do this as well with the Coros and Suunto. I didn't realize how much I appreciated having customized fields and screens for hiking vs biking vs running until I could. 4) solid battery life, solar charging 5) thoughtful/useful features: lap stat announcements to your BT headset, shortcut to power saving mode, unusual tracking modes like expedition and area calc, double function of each button - short vs long press, a double-tap shortcut for the torch Otherwise, all five watches had similar features: activity tracking galore, sleep tracking, alarms and timers, stopwatch, compass, altimeter, barometer, etc. 2nd place: the Coros was the most visually appealing of the set. The Instincts have that rugged chunky look and a smaller monochrome display, while the Coros was sleek with an attractive display (for MIP). Although they were all "45mm" watches, the Coros had a lower profile on my wrist, and through a trick of design, it looked like it had a smaller bezel. (It wasn't.) Data fields were displayed in BIG readable fonts during activities. The scroll wheel and two buttons was probably the most fun interface to use. Scrolling and zooming is quite nice with a scroll wheel. The Suunto Vertical is very similar to the 9 Peak Pro. I got my hands on both. I don't think it is worth the 2x price difference so I only compared the 9 Peak Pro with the others.
