Bow ONLY
This is quite simple: For the money spent you're getting a good bow that's ideal for kids in the 8-14 year old range. The bow is fine for left/right handed users and is not too tough to pull. Some kids will have to work out a bit before they get the strength, but this should come with practice. You have to develop muscles to shoot well. The bow appears well made and easy to string. In spite of the small size NEVER dry fire without an arrow. The bow comes with two arrows and they are pretty bad. The faux feathers do not make for a stable flight. You can try to bend them into place, but they are really poor and suitable for getting started at best. A few better arrows later and you'll really see what even this simple bow can manage. A good arrow is every bit important as the bow.The target is laughable. It's just a printed bit of cardboard, but what did you expect? Likewise, the arm guard is also very poor. These extras are to help sell the bow and you'll eventually toss them. Now: To get started go to Home depot and buy some hay (bails/cubes) and stack them. This is a good target backing and will be easy on the arrows. A target with a bullseye is not even needed. First let the child learn to hit the hay and only later do you graduate to actual pin-point targeting. This will all go better if you invest in a few proper arrows. I can shoot and even I had trouble as these arrows don't fly all that well.BOTTOM LINE-You're buying a good starter bow here and its worth what you pay, but the rest is mostly useless window dressing. Finally: BE SAFE. This is NOT A TOY. Even the lesser arrows will go right through a person with deadly results. No one should be anywhere near the target area. Always stand behind the shooter.

Kid loves it! Even though its not a video game.
The bow is made of metal with a plastic handle. Seems very well made. I shot it myself, and seems like it is good for children. My son is 9 and doesn't have any trouble with it. He can't pull it back all the way quite yet, but it still works for him. String is solid. Bought with GPP 28" arrows and a foam block by black hole. Good out door fun that is not a video game. GET IT

Exactly what I wanted
I wanted to teach my kids the way I was taught. This little bow was exactly what I was looking for. Good quality, and not to expensive. In my youth, Every two years our extended family would have a family reunion. We have a BIG family, and often hired people to come to the reunion and hold classes or host events for the family members. There was always this little old lady that came, we called her "snowy" because of her white hair, and she was hired to teach us Archery. She professionally taught archery to kids at summer camps, so she always showed up with 6 targets, 12 bows, and dozens or arrows. I went through her class so many times, I felt qualified to teach my own children, so I bought this bow. It is exactly like what she used to teach us with. This bow if perfect for teaching children (12yrs and older) how to use a bow. It is not a re-curve, or a compound bow, but the principles of archery are the same. This bow is perfect for teaching kids about stance, aiming, release, and constancy of technique. It's a simple bow, solid fiberglass with plastic ends and a molded rubber grip. I've seen these bows last for years and years. This one looks to be able to do the same.

Great for 12 year old, beginner...
After reading the reviews, I knew this would be a great starter bow for my 12 year old daughter. She doesn't like a compound bow and says it's easy to pull back and shoot. It's lightweight, but seems to be very durable. Our back yard is on the smaller side, so the shooting distance isn't as far as it could be. The draw can be pulled back enough to shoot the arrows through the straw bales and stiff cardboard wardrobe type box material from about 30'. The arrows have held up pretty well (we've had this set since Christmas). We haven't used the target yet, however, because it's pretty small and only made of card stock. Instead, we purchased two large straw bales and a much larger, more durable target, to shoot at, since both of my kids would still be considered beginners. They've attended a couple of archery classes at our regional park to learn safety, proper handling, loading and technique, but that's it. Although I trust my daughter to be safe, I also have an 8 year old son who shoots a compound bow. They are great at taking turns and staying in the "safe" zone we've established. BUT, adult supervision is a MUST! Overall, this is a great bow and it looks like it will last a long time with good care.

Great beginners bow!
Got this to teach my 9 year old son, looked for the lowest pull back strength out there an found this bow. It’s been a great first bow for him. He’s probably shot about 100 arrows so far and loves it! I’ve probably shot about 40 arrows on it so far it’s a very accurate bow for not having any kind of sight or anything. But I love basic, less to break and if you can perfect your skill on that. You’ll really upset those guys who dropped $600 on one an never practiced lol.

Good learning bow and arrow
This product is just as promised - it's a bow and arrow set for a younger child (my son is almost 7, 60 lbs and just under 4 feet tall) who wants to learn archery. It's a great beginner set, with real arrows (be careful!) instead of suction cup ones. You can also purchase youth arrows at a sporting goods store to add to the 2 that come with the set. The target's usefulness is debateable - we use one of those giant 3M flipchart pads and draw targets that we attach to haybales with bamboo skewers. The draw on this is about 10-15 lbs, so it can get tiring when the child is first learning, but he can build up as he practices. Good product if you're not sure how serious your child is about learning - not too much money, but not a cheapy toy product.

My 13 y/o loves it. Great beginner bow.
Great beginner bow for an early teen/preteen. You'll need to get additional (perhaps better quality) arrows, but not a big deal. Very pleased considering the price point.

So much fun!
My daughter had wanted an archery set for a while. We went to a summer camp open house and Wizard by Bear Archery was the brand they used. How could I go wrong, right? We have gone camping and used a box with more boxes inside as the target, as well as I had photocopied the included target. It worked like a charm! We both had soooo much fun! It is the perfect beginners set! I would suggest getting extra arrows though, as we did, as running back and forth chasing 2 arrows would take away from the enjoyment! Great quality product. Would definitely recommend it!

I originally got this for a Halloween costume. Now, I take it out to use for fun. It looks, feels and works like a real bow and arrow. I would recommend this product.
