A great little droid even with some quirks
So I love this product, he is a great droid and I adore him more than the original Sphero BB-8. I feel the astromech line is a much better droid in terms of handling, personality, and all around fun. This droid was originally released as an exclusive to Best Buy and is in very limited quantities (It's in the low thousands), R2-Q5 is the "bad guy" version of R2-D2 and is seen in Return of the Jedi working on the Death Star II. This droid does everything the sphero BB-8 does but in my opinion better. He runs around like a RC car, does emotions and sounds, and even runs around autonomously in patrol mode. One update is the sounds now come directly from the droid rather than the app so he is definitely louder than BB-8 ever was. He will still react to other droids in the sphero line as well as watch movies with you (be warned he only likes bad guy characters lol). One cool thing too is that he has the extendable third leg meaning he will go into rest mode on two legs as well as do emotes on two legs just like he does in the films. Now with all the good stuff about this droid there are a few cons to him. Thankfully nothing major and nothing that makes me deduct a star. First gripe is that he hates any sort of surface that isn't 100% flat. If he isn't on a 100% flat surface some of the emotes will knock him over (these are seperate from the actual emote that is designed to knock him over because yes R2 comes with a "broken droid" emotion). As far as I can tell only one emote (the surprised emote) really knocks him over when the surface isn't 100% flat however it is slightly annoying when I click that one that he knocks over despite me not wanting him too.The second gripe is an offshoot of this in his movie watch mode. so if you have a good battery on your phone you can watch movies with R2-Q5 and he will react to them on screen through his microphone (he is encoded with the entire SW lineup in terms of sound so he reacts to the sounds to determine the scene). The movie watch mode is great and i adore watching little Q5 go nuts when he sees a Stormtrooper or AT-AT on screen. However again if he isn't on a totally flat surface some of his reactions knock him down. It's a tad annoying having to pick him up and place him just right on a flat table. Other than that I adore this droid and will definitely be picking up R2-D2 to add to the collection. I'm just sad that Sphero isn't adding some other lesser known droids like R4 or R6.

Intuitive, Fun, Programmable
This is a great toy for kids of all ages, 6 to 96. The android Droids App is spot on and a lot of fun, but the real prize is the Edu App, which provides programming of the Sphero Droids at three levels: 1. Draw a line and watch the Droid follow it 2. Use programmable lego-like visual blocks to map out and build a custom control app utilizing every feature 3. java scripting for complete control of the programming environment. And its kind of fun to have the thing intermittently chirp and move whenever it feels like it or you handle the thing while its charging. It also interacts with other Sphero Droids.

SPHERO DISCONTINUED SUPPORT
That's just the friendly heads up.But if you have android and don't mind doing the research to find it, the app is still put there. And the app still works (mostly) for controlling all four Sphero druids.Which is awesome. Find the druids for a good price and buy happy. (Make sure you already have the app, other wise you kinda end up with a paperweight.)One star paperweight, 5 star droid.. so 4 stars lol

R2Q5 is sturdy if a little unsteady on his tracks unlike his counterpart R2D2!
Love the droid interactions option and his unique sound effects, he does differ a lot from R2D2' sounds. The sphero droids are very realistic and great fun to play with.
