APC SurgeArrest 12, P12U2, 4320 Joule, 12 Outlet Power Strip with USB Ports.
12-17-2023 at 12:36 PM - PST: I purchased these three, (3), APC SurgeArrest 12 surge protector strips in 2022. I really thought I'd already written a review on these, but apparently, according to my product review list, I still need to review this purchase. I have a combination of APC Surge Protection Strips throughout our home. I have, mostly now, the SurgeArrest 12's and 11's with a couple 8's and 7's in the mix. APC SurgeArrest strips are the BEST surge protection strips on the market, in my opinion.I SWEAR by APC power protection products. The SurgeArrest 12's, (and 11's), work perfectly, and protect computers, TVs, and ALL other sensitive electronics from surges and brownouts.(From experience...) DON'T use with APC Battery Backups!!! I found out the hard way on this! As stated by APC Support, (from back when I called them for warranty support on a UPC Battery that went bad, prematurely), the APC Surge Strips CAN, (and often do), 'mask' the overall load on an APC Battery Backup unit. Instead, just use plain power extension strips, (no surge protection), in conjunction with APC Battery Backup units.Otherwise, you can utilize APC SurgeArrest Strips ANYWHERE you want to protect sensitive electronics.I HIGHLY recommend the APC SurgeArrest 12 Surge Protection Strips. (And the 11's.) APC makes EXCELLENT products. You can depend on them.

Quality product on several top 10 (or top 5) consumer lists!
In spite of what we thought was pretty decent surge protection, we recently had a good portion of our computer equipment "fried" due to an electrical storm. After some research, we realized we may not have had the best surge protectors and some of them were more than several years old; so we continued our research, asked computer repair technicians and consulted several top 5 or top 10 consumer lists for "2021 best surge protectors". We found out that APC is considered one of the best brands out there and this particular model (P12U2) is considered one of the best surge protectors to have. I was impressed that this model has automatic shut-off in the event the surge protector is compromised in any way and can no longer protect your equipment. So it basically sacrifices itself to save your equipment. I like the spacing of the outlets and the cord seems to be just long enough without being too long. I even called the company to see what actions we would need to take if, for some reason, the surge protector failed. They are so confident in their product (that it will work until it necessarily "sacrifices" itself), they have a lifetime warranty and do not require going through all the hoops that most other companies require. Based on my experience, however, it's always best to keep receipts just in case. An excellent product overall.

Worth its weight in gold
I actually lost my first computer to a power surge, and so I have spent a long time looking for a surge protector that has a slightly higher fighting change against the surges that occur with storms where I live. This massive energy box does that and more. It’s the sturdiest piece of anything I’ve ever seen, the massive cable and thick plastic makes me think it could survive Chernobyl. The USB ports are a super nice and convenient feature that has made it so that there’s a bit less clutter on the outlets, and I really like the lights, although their brightness could be annoying to some.Plus, APC strikes me as a very reputable company, and this surge protector has made it so I feel at peace again when i plug in my laptop and beloved handheld console collection to charge.

Great Surge Protector and Good Value
I bought two of these a few months ago; one to replace an old surge protector that probably wasn't protecting anything anymore, and an additional one to plug in other items that are grouped close together in the same general area of the living room in my house. These surge protectors are working great. I like the wall mounting feature, though I haven't hung mine up yet. The green light around the edges is nice. It's like a miniature night light in the room which keeps me from stubbing my toes on anything near it if I get up at night and walk past it, but even better, the light lets you know that the surge protector is functioning properly. The USB ports are also a great feature. I use these every day for both my personal and work phones. While they don't charge as fast as the rapid charger that came with my Samsung phone, they're faster than most phone chargers you'll find at Walmart or other stores. I'm so glad I bought these surge protectors and plan to buy more. It's nice to know that my computers, monitors and other electronic devices are protected by electrical surges. One thing I noticed today is that the price of this item has gone up by five dollars apiece since I bought mine a few months ago.
