EASIEST, MOST EFFECTIVE KICK-DRUM MUFFLING SYSTEM i'VE USED
Was very impressed with the Evans products - very sturdy, durable, strong hoop/edge assembly. Mounted and tuned easily with even "loose" tuning which I prefer. Would have preferred a thinner resonator on the kick drum, but the two heads came at an excellent price for the pair and I like the reinforced ring around the mic port. I can see why drummers like the Evans heads. The sound is really clean, smooth, and responsive. The included clear, adhesive batter-dot is a nice touch. Durability - am confident they will hold up fine over quite a long time, (except) will have to see if the muffler ring stays attached and doesn't crack (as another reviewer mentioned) over time. Am looking forward to working with them.

Believe the Hype...
I’m writing because as veteran pro drummer, the few reviews I have read don’t really do these heads justice in what they can do to your kick sound in live settings. I own 3 drums sets, & have adopted the emad BD head system on all 3 kits. Here’s the deal... if you have a quality bass drum (e.g. let’s say maple or birch), these heads will TRANSFORM the sound of the drum... the fundamental pitch seems to be lowered by the dampening ring.... the end result is a kick drum with clear attack or “focus”, but still resonant... I hate to put it this way... but the audience will feel your down beats in the solar plexus, if not below the belt... which is what you want in most modern musical settings... :-)

Glad I bought these
I definitely like the idea they were a matched set. I was using old, beaten heads on my bass and needed something that would work better and look good, too. After I put these on, I could not believe I was playing the same bass drum. Now I have a tone that sounds more "musical" than just "thudding." I'm sure you could tune it to produce a nice, deep thud, too, but I really like the range of sounds I can create with this head set. There is a rim on the batter side that holds one of 2 included foam rings against the head. One is thicker in width than the other, allowing you to choose how much ring you want. The front port hole is just big enough to place a rolled up towel inside, but you'd need a small pillow if that's what you want. The thing is, I don't even use anything inside now. That's how controlled you can make it. If you want more of a thud, then add additional dampening, but, like I said, I prefer a more "musical" sound. Along with my Pearl B100DB Duo-Beat Beater , my upgraded bass drum now has the ability to cover a wide variety of sytles. The black color on front looks very cool, as well.

These Evans EMAD heads are really great!!!
I originally liked the Aquarian heads so much, but later I tried these Evans heads. I have to say that these are top notch. The kick sound is great. Lots of punch with serious low end. Great bass drum heads!!!

Sounds amazing!
It took an ugly sounding bass drum with stock heads to a booming sounding drum head. Although I will say I did also add the muffking system that Evans sells but man oh man, it sounded great. Im usually an Aquarian Super Kick II kinda guy but man, this sounds great. For the price it's amazing.

Great Product
This is a great head pack if you're looking for a fat, thick, and controlled tone for your kick drum.

Excellent skins
Some people will swear by Remo drum skins and others by Evans. You have to figure out what type of tone you want from your drum kit. I went for the Evans EMAD skin as I was intrigued by the dampening system they have incorporated on the skin. I still use a pillow inside my bass drum and use the thinner dampening ring and my kick sounds fabulous. I have watched many videos of the Evans EMAD skin review where they don’t have any pillow/blanket inside the drum and they recommend doing the same, but i’m not quite ready to give up on the pillow just yet lol. Hopefully this helps, and remember, figure out the tone you want out of your kick and then go for the skin that will help you achieve that tone.

I'd definitely recommend this combination if your bass drum needs some TLC
My old Yamaha bass drum was sounding dreadful, just a click and a wobble and nothing in between. I took off the decade-old Evans pinstripe and anonymous black resonant head, stripped the metalware off and cleaned the drum inside and out with Orange Glo furniture polish. I paid particular attention to the bearing edges, rubbing in lots of polish, and making sure the surfaces were still true. Back on with the metalwork, and then I fitted and tuned the new heads. A beater patch came in the pack so I fitted that too. What a difference! The drum now has an incredibly satisfying bottom end, but still enough bite to cut through the band. I'd definitely recommend this combination if your bass drum needs some TLC.

Parches brutales
Parches geniales.
