Durable phone but horrible at texting! Prediction mode =/= T9 mode
I previously owned the Kyocera Dura XV Equip E4810 through Verizon. I've never owned a smartphone and have avoided purchasing one so far. I had the E4810 since 2020 and it recently started giving me issues (random rebooting, received text messages disappearing or not being sent, music folder not working properly), so b/c I was switching carriers, I thought I'd purchase the exact same type of phone but a newer model. THIS is NOT that phone! If you are someone who prefers to text and sends a lot of text messages, like someone else mentioned, the texting on this phone is awful. The E4810 used the traditional T9 texting, which I LOVE. Over time, I learned to text by feel with one thumb, which was very efficient. This phone has Prediction text mode, which is not anything close to old-school T9 texting and is more frustrating than anything. For example: 1) I'm unable to text by feel, 2) common two-letter words appear way down the list of word options, 3) the number zero cannot be entered in a combination text/number message unless you switch to 123 mode (e.g. "Today is June 17, 2026." When you text that sentence as is in Prediction mode, instead of getting "2026," you get "226" b/c the 0 in Prediction mode is a selector; pressing 0 moves you to the next word option), 4) it doesn't already recognize some common slang abbreviations such as "omw," "omg," but you can enter them into your own dictionary (the E4810 already did that w/o adding words to a dictionary or it learned it pretty quickly), 5) I've been using this phone for almost 2 weeks now, and it still hasn't recognized my most frequent words to prioritize them, 6) pressing buttons for some small words (e.g. the, and, is, me) do not appear near the top of options and you are sometimes given larger numbers (e.g. 4670102) or longer words when you only pressed 2 buttons (why?), so you not only have to look to make sure you're selecting the right word, but the word you want may be on line 3 of the options you are given, 7) the word "Y'all" only appears in the options as capitalized, not "y'all," 8) typing a colon and closed parenthesis does not give you a smiley (just two periods). Those are the immediate texting frustrations that come to mind.Aside from texting, I'm unable to download some photos that are sent to me, and I can't figure out why b/c it's so inconsistent. At first, I thought it was I couldn't download messages that were only photos b/c messages that had photos & text, I could receive with no problem. Then I had a couple of different people text only photos, and some came through just fine; others didn't. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why, so it's frustrating to have a photo sent to me, I see the message that says "Download," and then it says "Cannot download...," so I ultimately just delete the photo. The E4810 didn't have that problem. As for getting on the internet, the only test I did was checking my email. Accessing and checking it was fine but I was never able to send. While I wouldn't have any need to get on the internet using my phone anyway (I never had a data plan on my E4810), the fact that I can't send an email if I needed to is another strike against the E4831.So all that being said, I was super-hopeful the E4831 would be my replacement to the E4810, but I don't know if it's the phone itself b/c it was a "renewed" phone or if the E4831 is just glitchy like that. The only reason I'm still using it now is b/c I'm waiting for my order of the Sonim X3 to see how that would work and I currently have no other cell phone I can use in the meantime. Not sure why Kyocera had to mess up a great thing they had with the E4810. It was the perfect phone for me. It was a little larger than I would've liked, but I got used to it, and I was able to do all I needed (esp. texting) to w/o the bells & whistles of a smart phone.

No wifi calling
Phone was like new. Excellent quality. Returned because it would not make wifi calls over Tmobile's network.

Kyocera E4831 phone
Received it quickly, but the battery was weak from day one and the phone only worked for two or three weeks . The phone just started flashing. Would not work at all. Emailed where I purchased the phone, said what it was doing was told they would send a new battery to me. Hope it gets here soon!! Have been three days without a phone.

Unit not working. Should have been checked prior to sending out.
Looked new. Probably because it didn’t get past the name of the company rebooting over and over and over again. Returned as this wasn’t checked if it was a working unit prior to sending out. Two stars for the company being responsive.

My phone kept freezing once or twice a dayReturned it after a week! They should do a better job of checking if the phone really works before sending it
