Best Bass Distortion Pedal
I've been searching for a decent bass distortion pedal ever since I heard "think for yourself" by the Beatles. First time that I know of that a distorted bass guitar was used on a record. I was absolutely blown away. I was 11 then back in 1972.I began my search. It seemed endless. I found some satisfaction out of my Musicman HD130 where I overdrove the EL-34 (Sylvania) tubes and got some decent distortion but the search went on. I bought so many different pedals. None to my satisfaction. I looked at the biggest names in rock and the equipment they used. But I wanted my own sound. Then I found the Aguilar Agro. Matched with my 2000 Warwick Thumb 5 and the Thomastik powerbass strings, the possibilities were endless. A very diverse pedal. No drop out when the switch is kicked in and the frequency response is exceptional. A little less heavy distortion on the lowest frequencies but as you run up the neck it's like finding a long lost love. The pedal is reactive to the intensity of the touch on the strings. Very nice. The controls give a very widely dispersed selection of distortion and intensity. Something for everyone. Excellent build quality as is the case with anything Aguilar.Highly recommend you try this if you are a bassist looking for a pedal that delivers thru the entire spectrum of intensity and sound quality. I have all tube, solid state and hybrid amps running thru a myriad of 10", 12" and15" speakers in a variety of cabinets that are different configurations. I am able to drive this pedal successfully thru all of them. I usually don't write long reviews but Aguilar has really made a serious contribution to we the bassists.Try one. Your ears will love you for it.Just for reference, I bought mine when they 1st came out in 2010. I am also a purist. My basses and amps make my sound but I decided to break ranks and made this pedal part of my arsenal.

Awesome
Aguilar is on a roll lately. For the money, I'd say this is the best way to put some growl on your bass without sacrificing any tone. I've been playing for a long time, and I've mostly played heavier music. I never liked the sound of an OD bass until I used this pedal. Aside from my tuner and a noise killer, this is the only pedal I use.

Awesome Pedal
I've been unhappy with bass distortion/overdrive pedals in the past as they either weren't ballsy enough, or were and lacked any real tone clarity. I'm extremely happy with this one- it's incredibly diverse, as you can use for everything from a little boost, to a fuzzed-out sound, to a serious growl. Highly recommended!

Has a cool and unique tone
Definitely results in a lot of bass attenuation, despite their marketing talk which says otherwise. Has a cool and unique tone, though.

Best of the Aguilar pedals
I have all the Aguilar pedals and I think this one is the most useful for tone control. A subtle amount goes a long way.
