My son absolutely loves this, he is an outside boy and loves to catch bugs so now he can catch them and collect them while outside and release them when he is done. It’s a little smaller than it looks in pictures but it’s perfect for him to carry around and take places with him to play with it everywhere.

This review is for the Koala Diary Bug Catcher Kit. My kids have been begging for a kit to catch and explore their creepy crawly friends so this was an obvious purchase. The first day we received it my boys filled it with Roly-Poly buddies, food and water for them. It's clear plastic so easy for my kids to check on their friends and see what's going on inside the carrier, as opposed to the mesh traps I have seen otherwise. The kit includes a magnifying glass, bug tray, whistle, strap, education cards, bug catcher, and tweezers. The tweezers are difficult to use for my kids, even the 7 year old, but he loves blowing the whistle. The tray is thin plastic and will honestly go straight into the trash as it doesn't serve a great enough purpose to make it worth storing. There are several clips and 2 lanyards for the accessories which make storage easy - always appreciated by a mom. The only reasons I took away 1 star are the following: 1. The strap for the carrier is pretty flimsy and the carrier is hard plastic. I anticipate it will easily slip off and crack. 2. Our roly-poly friends died very quickly. Not to say that's for sure the fault of the carrier, but with smaller air holes than most cages I couldn't help but wonder if that impacted them. Overall, I have happy boys who are encouraged to explore outside so I am a happy Mom! I would buy it again as a bonus gift or treat, but it's not substantial enough as a stand alone gift if you're on the hunt for one.

Purchased this as a gift for a little explorer. Easy to assemble, fun, perfect size, educational, and a great gift! Inexpensive, yet has great quality!
