Third time the charm
We ordered another style tray twice before from MAGIGO. Both times they were defective. Even so, this tray was the perfect fit for us, and I could not find another that was just right. I ordered again, and this time the tray was acceptable. Like the first few times, the veneered plywood bottom is just slightly sagging. Other than the tiny bit of sagging, we like these trays a lot. They are very light, and otherwise seem to be well-made. The other downside may be the price. Even at the discounted price ($63) they seem expensive. Then again, they are made from cherry and cherry veneers, and the joining at the corners is a definite upgrade.

Shoddy workmanship, wild pricing, and an uncontactable seller
This arrived so shoddily constructed that it was full of cracks. One corner is cracked fully through, and another crack runs the length of one of the boards. The bottom isn’t level, and neither is the top. There is a ridiculous engraved logo of the Magigo company that no one has ever heard of, on the bottom, that has to be sanded off before finishing, that’s not mentioned, and there were splinters all over it before the heavy duty sanding that that required. At least I was able to level the bottom while finishing it, because the entire perimeter protruded about 1/16” from the actual bottom. The edge boards that aren’t lined up on the bottom are also so crappily attached to the main center board that the middle of the edge boards bow inward, and the ends flare outward, because the center board isn’t cut straight. The edges are tight in the center, and then there’s a 1/16”-1/8” gap by the time they reach the corners, leaving nice gaps for food crumbs to get stuck in. For SEVENTY DOLLARS, I now get to set about applying wood filler and glue so that the thing might be halfway useable. This is the only tray I could find that was the dimensions I need, so I’m out of luck, here. Amazon has nothing but broken links for contacting the seller, and refuse to do anything about the ridiculousness, themselves, despite taking my money plus their fees. I can’t even send photos of what the thing looks like to Amazon or the seller, and since they’ve got my money and I don’t have time or energy to fiddle with packaging to return a large item that I need now, not in a week, that’s all, bye bye now. I’ve included photos of it looking much better, after the hours of sanding required remove the splinters and the logo, as well as a coat of danish oil to start filling in the cracks. What absolute insanity. This is worth $4 at a thrift shop, as it arrived. Barely, if I had a spare day to clean it up and finish it. Just…take my $70 and give me trash, and I’m the idiot. Sure. Cool. Yay. Maybe if we make the skyscrapers sized cargo ships even bigger, THAT’LL do it.
