Is rosemary "extract" the same as rosemary "essential oil"?
I ordered this "Premium Rosemary Essential Oil, 100% Pure and Natural Rosemary Oil for Hair Growth, Skin, Face" to use in DIY aromatherapy fragrance blends. The scent is pretty strong but not as punchy as a live rosemary plant. The oil itself is pretty thick - thicker than most other essential oils I have in my stash. However, I did notice one thing I find unusual. The bottle says the ingredients are "rosemary extract" and no other ingredients are listed. I would have thought the scent would be far more powerful - I expected it to smell more like the live plants do, just probably much more intense. I guess I'm glad it isn't, but I don't know that this oil will work for my intended purposes.Thankfully, I've been reading more about rosemary oil and it allegedly has uses for skin and hair care, so I will be trying that out to see how it goes. I wonder if it will GROW hair, rather than just restoring it. I'll have to update if anything interesting comes of it. I find it interesting that the product description states the following directions:"add 1-2 drops of essential oil to shampoo or conditioner and apply it to the hair: or with wet hair take 10 drops and apply it to the hair."Sure seems like that ratio is backward. Why would I put 1-2 drops in my shampoo or conditioner compared to 10 drops if I'm putting it directly onto my hair after the shower? Wouldn't it be better to put 10 drops in the shampoo *or* 1-2 drops directly onto the hair? This pack of 2 bottles also came with... I guess these are makeup brushes? I can't figure out what I would do with those though. I'll try this oil for the "heath and beauty" side of it, but I am admittedly very skeptical.

Versatile & Nice Quality
This rosemary oil is very nice and has been a great addition to my shampoo. The consistency is exactly what I expect a pure essential oil to be and it is easy to dilute in carrier oils, shampoo, etc. Overall, very nice quality oil at a great price!

Not a true essential oil, it's a personal care product made with an essential oil
Coming from China I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they do not understand the proper use of English. The box states Rosemary Essential Oil. The box also states steam distilled. The bottle states Rosemary extract. The contents are a very thick clear oil with a slight hint of Rosemary scent.Best guess is that this is a castor oil base with about a .5% to maybe 1% essential oil added. Directions state, "apply Rosemary nourishing oil", which means it's already diluted. Product isn't what it claims to be. I applied it directly to my skin and have confirmed its not an essential oil.

Hmm... Not Exactly
I have been making soaps and lotions for several years now and, as a result, have gained a good deal of knowledge and experience with fragrances and essential oils. Essential oils, in particular, have a reputation for less-than-honest business practices and products. I have a couple of very reputable and honest sources for these products and have amassed a pretty hefty collection myself over the years. This knowledge allows me to make the following statement. This is not pure rosemary essential oil. I have pure rosemary essential oil and it is very different from this product. For one, essential oils are rarely greasy like this. They are usually very thin, like turpentine or gasoline. This is (to the best of my knowledge) a small amount of rosemary essential oil diluted in a carrier oil like soybean or sunflower oil.Is that a bad thing? No, not in this case. Putting 100% rosemary essential oil (or really any essential oil) directly on your skin is not a good idea. It needs to be diluted in a carrier oil or it can seriously irritate your skin. For that reason, I am only deducting one star because I believe the labeling is somewhat deceptive, but the product itself is not bad at all.I have no reason to believe that this will make my hair grow, but it smells delightful and feels nice on the skin.

Greasy, thick. More like rosemary sap
Had another brad before this one that was much thinner, easier to apply and spread. I could also smell it longer. This is not even close.Super thick, greasy, kinda like tree sap.It does make my hair soft but oily feeling. Scent does not last long. Only upside is it's cheap. Its also from china, so ya...

Always Loved Rosemary
I'm in heaven when I squeeze some fresh rosemary right on the stem! man it just lifts my spirit! I had no thought to ever get it in an extract form for my hair/skin.. I love it even more now! I had no idea my beard could even grow so full and thick! This is pure, thick, wholesome Rosemary oil that goes a long way of use. No glycerin just pure goodness! Doesn't smell as robust as fresh rosemary--still nice though!
