You need this
Okay, maybe you don't NEED this. Maybe you have disposable income. Maybe, you can simply throw your old items away and replace them with newer ones. Or, maybe, you've grown somewhat attached to certain items and you want to prolong the life of them as best you can. Then, you do really need the Speedy Stitcher. Qualifier: I don't know how to sew. I plucked the Speedy Stitcher out of it's case, read the three step instructions, and in 8 minutes had effectively repaired one of my favorite leather belts that would otherwise have gone in the trash. Replacing the belt would've cost me $39. The Speedy Stitcher, out of the box with plenty of thread, cost less than half of that. And, now, I can see that over the years, the Speedy Stitcher will see occasional use for equipment or clothing repair, and will pay for itself many times over. The Speedy Stitcher is well made (Made in the USA no less), simple to use, and requires one bit of knowledge: how to tie a square not. You'll need this to finish your stitches. Will it do a pretty sewing job? No. Will it allow you to make a prom dress? No. Will you be able to precisely reassemble your Manolo Blahnik fashion shoes? Not a chance. What it will do is keep your hunting boots from finally giving out, your heavy canvas from ripping entirely apart, reassemble your rucksack straps in the middle of nowhere, and other countless heavy-duty repairs. They won't look pretty, but for field-expedient repairs, this is such a portable, simple tool, you'd be a fool to not throw one in your tackle box, tool box, or camping kit. Or, maybe you're made of money.

Works Well for me
It works! I was able to stitch my spring clips back on to my trampoline pad. It’s a bit pricey, but it does make stitching easy.

You can buy this tool even if you only need it once
This tool was to replace one I got while in the Navy, 40+ years ago. The original never wore out, I just lent it to someone and it never came back. The quality of the new one is 90% as good as the original, with some of the metal parts simply being a smidgen lighter weight but which I believe will last just fine. For me, this is a tool I might go a year or two between uses but then use 2-3 times in a single week... that's just how your odd jobs come along sometimes. You can really make a nice and quality repair to a host of different products with this tool and if you ever run out of thread in the middle of a project, just get some dental floss and finish the job, the stitcher works just fine with floss as a replacement until you can buy another spool of waxed string. Good tool at a fair price, anyone can use it and with a little practice get very good results with one. Watch a you tube video if your trying yours for the first time and the instruction manual seems confusing.

This is a GREAT tool...
For the price. Awls are VERY sharp, everything that's supposed to be tight, hold etc, does. Fits nicely in the hand. My only complaint is mine has some tear out where the thread goes from the bobbin and in through the body to the awl eye and the metal piece on the wooden body is slightly off center making it kinda hard to thread. Take the extra threw seconds to clean up your holes, company.

Buy it. Works.
Wonderful compact tool. I had one and couldn’t find it when I decided to add some modifications to my black backpack. Then found the original one from a decade ago. I decided to keep the second since it’s so compact and keep it in a mobile repair kit with extra fabric for patching. Keep it all in a small pouch and add it when off doing crazy stuff that a now old man would do like going to a coffee shop or shopping at a consignment store. You know, those dangerous activities where my gear can be injured! It is easy to use but be careful stabbing yourself when working with thick material. No joke.

Great tool. Just needs better directions.
I needed to fix a couple lawn chairs and knew there must be some sort of tool available, since the chairs would not fit in my sewing machine. After a lengthy Google search, I found this speedy stitcher sewing awl. Thinking it would be a breeze to use, I ordered it and waited until the last possible minute to fix the chairs. Well.....after I failed three times, I watched a youtube video (3 times) and FINALLY caught on. Usually I'm a faster learner, but there was a learning curve here that took time. It was worth the time it took, because I was able to fix the lawn chairs and they are possibly more sturdy now than they were when new. The thread that comes with the sewing awl is heavy duty, waxed thread, and it appears like it will last for the life of the chairs. This awl comes with 2 needles: a straight one, which I used, and one with a curve. Only one spool of thread is included, but I would suggest ordering a back up spool to have on hand in case you run out in the middle of a project. The one drawback are the directions that come in the package. They state the steps to using the sewing awl, but there isn't quite enough development of the steps to make the directions completely clear. Youtube was a great help to me.

Good tool for Canvas Material
Used this literally once to fix a pop-up campus canvas that had a huge rip. It worked just fine, the only thing was the angle I had to work in was not ideal for the shape of the tool. It works great though!

Youtube how-to videos first!
I had some canvas on my pop up trailer that had some stitching come loose and create a hole. I didn't want to pay a lot of money to have someone fix it so I started searching on youtube. I came across this product and thought I would give my hand a try at stitching. I watched 2 videos before attempting it but they looked easy enough. The awl came mostly set up out of the box. All I did was attach the needle I needed and run the string through it. I had made my repair in about 15 minutes from start to finish and you cannot even tell I patched it! I am thrilled with this handy little tool and feel very confident in doing another repair if I have to! Heck I'm always looking at things around the house to see if there is something else I can fix just so I can use it again! For now it will stay in my trailer tool kit as an emergency repair tool. Thanks for a great little tool!

Amazing simplicity at its best.
Purchase this to repair a tear in a caravan awning. The awl is fantastic and has save me a load of money in having to send the awning away for repair. It works like a charm and is very simple to use, providing strong stitches that will last a long time. Amazing simplicity at its best. Please note the standard needle and thread are a little on the thick side so I would suggest purchasing the additional thin needle and thread for thinner fabrics and lighter work such as tents etc. Awesome product and well worth the money.
