NETGEAR LB2120 modem 4G LTE à carte SIM 2 ports Gigabit

I wanted a backup connection to my network. I tried manuyUSB sticks with different routers but it was always wobbly.Now I use this device in modem mode, when the LAN interface gives the WAN IP straight to the connected network device.This way it feels like just any Internet connection.Finally my pfSense / OPNsense router can get a stable secondary WAN.I cannot comment on the inbuilt router function on this device. It worked when I tried, but I think of it as a nice to have function. This is a 4G to Ethernet modem and it does a good job.It could do fail over mode too, when it would receive your normal wired connection on its WAN port and use that to provide Internet to your device under its NAT, but if the ping fails on the normal WAN it starts to use the 4G Internet. When the normal Internet is back it switches back.I do this manover on my own, but if you are a small business owner where you always need internet, this device can be useful for you.Plus points for the external antenna connections. With an external antenna, the signal improved.I would recommend it for you if you know what you buy. If you need only a 4G Internet to share on te way, this device is not for you and you can get stuff cheaper and they will work for you better. Like other Netgear Aircard models.

So I bought this from Amazon warehouse deal, came pretty cheap for me. I didn't want to spend 100r at first on 4G modem(without wifi as I already have two in mesh setup, just needed internet) without knowing what I am venturing into as my home broadband was really getting day by day. Overall very good quality, signal is stable with both internal and external antennas. However I don't know how to justify that retail price tag. I would pay max upto 60£ for this one especially because it doesn't have wifi and only cat 4, if you can pay more, look at Huawei 311 model under 70£ range, the b535 around 100-130£ and you get cat 7 with facility to put landline phone and use the data and call features at the same time. Be careful though not all models(b535-232 model) have phone port, the 235 model has phone port. As I decided to go 4G way for my primary daily internet, I bought a B535-932 again warehouse deal for about 70£ where similar models retail at 130£ or more.So moral of the story - it's expensive for a cat4 modem without wifi and phone port.

Overall, I'd say this does not meet expectations.The failover is slow. In my testing, I find it takes about 3min to notice that I've pulled the cable out of my wired broadband connection and switch to using the 4G/LTE modem.Though not technically a problem with the LB2120, I ran into some issues with my VDSL modem because the LB2120 became the only client and the modem had some per-client limit on NAT table entries. Debugging this was not for the faint hearted; though if you care enough to consider buy a 4G/LTE failover modem, you probably know your way around home networking.The other gotcha was that this specific SKU was sold by Amazon EU... and arrived with an EU power plug (i.e. two round pins). On hindsight, it's not too surprising but I'm annoyed I didn't think about this before ordering. I remember there's another Amazon SKU which is sold by Amazon UK and I would assume that comes with a UK-style charger brick.

La versión que compré solo tiene 2 puertos Ethernet (1 WAN + 1 LAN) y no Wifi.Conecté el puerto LAN a mi firewall para poder automáticamente pasar a la 4G en caso de incidencia con la fibra (varias averías este mes con mi proveedor) y volver cuando la incidencia este arreglada.Por ahora las pruebas que he hecho fueron muy positivas.Funcionamiento a confirmar con la próxima caída de la fibra!

Solution idéale à moindre coût... il suffit d'avoir une SIM 4G a insérer avec un bon forfait data et le tour est joué !Configuration ultra simple, dans mon cas derrière un routeur/FW qui gère les liaisons et leur qualité mais ce petit modem sait aussi s'intercaler entre votre box internet et le réseau local afin de faire le boulot en toute transparence en cas de coupure de votre fibre ou ADSL.Egalement quelques options avancées comme le filtrage de ports, la création d'une DMZ ainsi que la possibilité de fonctionner en mode bridge (par défaut c'est un modem/routeur).Bref que du bon pour un tarif assez raisonnable et surtout compatible avec n'importe quel équipement ou fournisseur d'accès internet.

Das Gerät ist ein stationäres LTE Modem mit WLan aber es kann ein wenig mehr. Bei mir arbeitet es als Fallbacklösung für meinen Linksys Max-Stream AC1900 MU-MIMO Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router im Bridge Modus mit aktiver SIM Karte aber ohne WLan. Die Einrichtung hat mangels meiner Fähigkeiten einige Zeit gedauert aber das Ergebnis war die Mühe mehr als wert.Die Grenze des Fallbacks liegt ausschliesslich beim Netzausfall des Internet-Kabelanbieters. Das Gerät pingt in (einstellbaren) Zeitintervallen den Kabelanbieter an und bei Unerreichbarkeit wird automatisch auf die SIM Karte und LTE Internet umgeschaltet. Ein Stromausfall legt leider alles lahmnachträgliche Ergänzug zur Einrichtung der funktionierenden failover Funktion, so funktioniert es tadellos und automatisch:Bei den Einstellungen für failover müssen sie eine IP Adresse ihres Providers eingeben die nicht automatisch wechselt. Ich habe einen Kabelanschluss und habe mir über den Kundendienst eine IP Adresse besorgt die sich nicht ändert und in dem Gerät als Kontroll-IP für das Vorhandensein der Internetverbindung verwendet.Über das WE habe ich es praktisch getestet. Habe die IP meines Anschlusses als failover IP Adresse eingegeben und am Montag morgen war auf SIM-Karte umgestellt. Mit dem Kundendienst telefoniert, eine ständig verfügbare IP des Providers bekommen (mit der Erklärung am Telefon, das ich es für die failover Funktion brauche) und diese heute morgen eingegeben. Es dauert eine gewisse Zeit bis automatisch umgeschaltet wird. Es liegt vermutlich daran, das in den (default) Einstellungen nur alle 15 Minuten diese Überprüfung vorgenommen wird.Wenn sie die IP Adresse beim failover verwenden die sie im Browser angezeigt bekommen so sitzen sie einem weit verbreitetem Irrtum auf wenn sie glauben das dies genüge. Diese IP Adressen werden normalerweise im 24 Stundentakt gewechselt damit der gewöhnliche Kunde keinen (Webspache-)Server an einem solchen Anschluss verwenden kann. Dieses Service kostet extra. Und dieses Wissen hat nichts mit einer dürftigen Gerätebeschreibung zu tun. Ich finde dass das deutsche Menü in diesem Gerät mehr als ausreichend ist. Habe auch bei mir festgestellt das das Problem vor der Tastatur saß.lg Franz

Eventualmente potrei provarne un paio più avanti ma solo per sfizio perché le integrate fanno il loro sporco lavoro....GUIL’interfaccia utente è chiara e facilmente navigabile da browser, o se preferite, da applicazione mobile.In una sezione della dashboard è possibile visionare i parametri e le performance della componente radio, in altre è possibile impostare la configurazione del dispositivo....CONFIGURAZIONE DEL DISPOSITIVOSono disponibili sia la modalità bridge che quella di router, è possibile abilitare e disabilitare la funzionalità DHCP server. È inoltre possibile il setting della funzione di failover in bundle con la connettività cablata (fibra o ADSL che sia).Si possono anche configurare fino a tre numeri di telefono per ricevere notifiche al verificarsi di determinate condizioni (es superamento soglie di una specifica percentuale del piano dati, Switch da connessione cablata a Cellulare e viceversa, passaggio da 4G a 3G e viceversa, disponibilità nuovo aggiornamento SW etc).MESSA IN OPERAQuanto è difficile la messa in opera?Se non si hanno particolari esigenze d’installazione, l’esperienza d’attivazione è poco più di plug & play: fondamentale in questo senso rimuovere il PIN della SIM prima di installarla fisicamente nel router LTE (il formato Supportato è MICRO SIM). In alternativa è possibile sbloccare la SIM dall’Interfaccia de router ma per fare ciò è ovviamente necessario accedere alla GUI del router.Nel mio caso ho installato il router LTE nella posizione di massima ricezione, collegandovi direttamente alla porta LAN una powerline. L’altra powerline associata l’ho collegata alla porta WAN del router preesistente (Netgear R7000).CONCLUSIONIViste le prestazioni superiori (per ordine di grandezza) della rete LTE rispetto alla mia ADSL ho deciso di escludere del tutto quest’ultima dalla mia WAN.Che dire... dopo anni di frustrazioni legate ad ADSL al limite dell’utilizzabile, finalmente una connessione performante che permette di usufruire di servizi di ultima generazione bypassando il dannato doppino in rame.DAZN, NETFLIX 4K, SKY Q in HD/4K, YOUTUBE 4K , FOMOTICA non sono più una chimera, anzi....In una parola questo router mi ha abilitato a servizi di cui altrimenti non avrei potuto usufruire.Non posso che consigliarlo lo ricomprerei mille volte ancora !
