The Iron Supplement That Finally Helped My Hair and Nails Get Their Act Together
A couple of years ago, I went down a rabbit hole trying to figure out why my hair and nails simply refused to cooperate. My hair would grow to a certain point and then snap off like it had somewhere better to be. My nails were brittle, weak, and constantly breaking, even after I stopped bleaching my hair and gave up nail extensions entirely. I was also shedding so much hair that I genuinely wondered how I wasn’t visibly balding. Spoiler alert: iron was the missing piece for me. After doing a lot of research, I learned that iron plays a huge role in hair and nail growth because it helps carry oxygen to hair follicles and nail cells. I also had to be honest with myself: I don’t eat meat or eggs, and while I try to get iron from leafy greens and beans, consistency is not my strongest skill. Enter these OLLY iron chewables. Size & ease of use: The tablets are small and easy to chew, which makes sticking with them long-term much easier than swallowing big pills. Chewing two a day quickly became part of my routine instead of something I dreaded. Taste & texture: They taste fine. Not candy, not medicine. Just a light fruit punch flavor with a mild sweetness. They are a bit chalky, similar to a Tums, but nothing unpleasant or shocking. If you’ve ever taken a chewable supplement before, this won’t surprise you. Energy boost: Personally, I didn’t start these because of fatigue, so I can’t confidently say they’ll change your energy levels. I didn’t notice a dramatic energy shift, but that wasn’t my goal going in. Hair & nail growth: This is where they shine for me. After consistently taking these for about two years, my hair is now almost down to my butt, something I honestly never thought I’d say. My shedding dramatically reduced, and my nails are noticeably stronger and less brittle. They still break occasionally because life happens, but nothing like before. Important note: this is very much a your mileage may vary situation. Everyone’s body is different, and iron supplementation isn’t a magic wand. But for someone who knows they don’t get enough iron through diet, this made a real, noticeable difference. Gentleness: One big concern with iron supplements is stomach issues, and I’ve had zero problems with these. No nausea, no discomfort, no digestive drama. Value: At around $14 for a bottle, this feels like excellent value for something that’s become a long-term staple for me. Affordable, easy to take, and effective for my specific needs. Bottom line: if you suspect low iron might be affecting your hair or nails and chewable supplements are more your speed, these are absolutely worth considering. Five stars from someone whose hair finally decided to stick around.

These are a yes
I cannot swallow pills for the life of me and I'm so picky with taste, but these are a win for me. I just started them so cant say yet if they'll improve my anemia, but they're easy enough to stomach so definitely recommend in that aspect. Do they taste great, no, but no iron supplement does, but they taste good enough to take them as directed

favorite iron supplement
I tried an easy on the stomach one from nature valley and immediately made my stomach hurt bad (I am 6months pregnant) however this iron tablet is a lifesaver. No tummy ache, to me it doesn’t taste bad.

Daughter approved
My daughter loves these. This was truly a win because it is hard to get teenagers to take something they don't like. She said that they taste a little chalky but it tastes good. She's on her second bottle.

No Metallic Aftertaste & Very Gentle on the Stomach
I’m currently taking an iron supplement to manage anemia based on my doctor’s recommendation. Finding an iron that doesn't cause GI upset—and doesn't taste like pennies—is a major challenge. These Olly chews are a pleasant surprise. The Highlights: Zero Metallic Taste: Unlike almost every other iron chewable I’ve tried, these have no metallic aftertaste. The fruit punch flavor is clean and the texture is a smooth, easy-to-eat chewable. Stomach Friendly: I take these first thing in the morning on an empty stomach alongside my other Olly vitamins. I’ve experienced zero nausea or stomach cramping, which is a huge win for an iron supplement. Space-Saving Design: One observation—the container is much more compact than the standard "large" Olly bottles (like their Sleep or Multi lines). It still provides a full 30-day supply, but the smaller footprint is actually great for crowded medicine cabinets or travel. User-Friendly Packaging: The lid is much easier to open than standard medication bottles, which I really appreciate for daily use. Great Value: The price point was one of the main reasons I chose this over other brands, and the quality lives up to the cost. Final Verdict: If you are sensitive to the taste of iron or have a stomach that reacts poorly to traditional pills, this is a fantastic option. I'm giving it 4 stars simply because I'm still getting used to the fruit punch flavor profile, but for efficacy and lack of side effects, it's a winner.

Supplement
The flavor of these was surprisingly not disgusting. The texture was ok...there's really nothing to complain about. As far as iron supplements go, I'd say this is one of the least bad I've had.

Taste is hard to stomach
I have tried a lot of different iron supplements, and I think iron in general tastes terrible no matter what. The chalkiness doesn't help either. This is probably the least offensive-tasting one I've tried, but be warned that it's still hard to go down. Anyone saying it tastes good, I have questions for you because this smells and tastes like blood.

Great for sensitive people!
I don’t know why others are saying that these taste bad, they really don’t. I have a VERY sensitive body and cannot stand any type of medicine barely, and I unfortunately became anemic looking for an iron supplement. I tried Sulfate, Gluconate, Bisglycinate, Fumarate, taking it in the morning, at night, with food, without food, nothing ever helped, I always felt horrible. These, however, I can tolerate way better. I only really experience an off feeling for an hour or so after taking it but after that it starts to subside and I usually feel fine the rest of the day. (This was my own results, others can vary) I was at a 6 ferritin when I started back in March, and I got my labs done in June and my ferritin is now a 12. I can’t handle large doses of iron, so this slow climb is better for me. My hemoglobin is now at a 13, so I’m no longer anemic and slowly making my climb back to being able to function like a human again. I’ll recommend this supplement to anyone struggling with sensitivities because, I promise you I’m not a bot, I actually saw changes and a supplement fit for a sensitive body. Much love!
