I live in Minnesota, this gate has been up for years now, outside on the deck. Years later and the gate is hanging so great you would not realize it is not new.I'm using as a pet gate for our cats. I want to keep them safe, yet allow them to enjoy some outdoor time with us. This gate is the perfect height, I have had to be quite inventive to keep them from jumping the side rails; but not once have they attempted to jump the gate. I love the height and ease of use. Installation took only a few minutes, thanks to the templates and clear instructions. I did attach Cardinal Gates Deck Shield around the entire deck railing and also to the gate. Problem solved.....Cats are safe on the deck, and the gate is a nice addition to the deck, My only wish is that it would have been nice to have in black, lack was not available when I ordered. For those of you with children, this gate is perfect. Good secure lock, yet easy for adults to work. Would recommend to anyone with children.

This is a nice gate. It is a nice powder coated aluminum and that makes it light and easy to swing. I finally figured out that you are supposed to lift the gate in order for the latch to work properly. That means lifting in the middle so that it will rise on the hinges slightly. That kind of makes it a two hand operation which may not always be convenient. We created out own stop with a rare earth magnet that works better for us and didn't require any lifting - just a firm push and then swinging. That works well for dogs but probably wouldn't for curious children. Also some plastic ridges on the hinge act as stops (I don't know it that was what they were intended for or not) and we had to carefully cut them off (fortunately we have a tool that would do that) in order to get the gate to open tight against the wall. When the gate is not blocking the hallway we needed it stowed tight against the wall. And the 47.8" max length is a little shady because to get there you have to have extend the fasteners on each side almost to the max - which works I suppose but I didn't care for it for strength and appearance sake - so we added a plastic wood board extension. But overall I am pleased enough that we bought a second one.

Bought this for the bottom of our stairs to keep the dog downstairs and a cat upstairs. The height is great and makes it easy for someone tall to open it as they come down the stairs. The cat was able to walk through the bars so I added mesh netting with zip ties to stop that. Installation was fairly easy, no complaints there. I only gave it four stars because its a little clumsy opening and closing to the point that sometimes, about once in 25 times, it comes off its hinges when I open it. Its easy to put back on and the release of the hinges actually protects so the hinges don't wiggle loose over time on the wall since you have to lift up on one side of the gate to get it out of the locking mechanism. When you close it the bottom does not always snap in the lock, but I give it a little nudge or bump with my foot and that typically does the trick. My kids don't have the patience for that but I have no problem with it. If I was constantly going through this gate it would be frustrating but since I do not have to do so that often I am happy with this gate. The height, sturdy metal gate, white color and the simple smooth appearance make this good for my application.

I installed this gate at the top of the stairs of our split level a year and a half ago. The other gates we’ve had only had on opening in the middle and carrying groceries while trying to fit through a small opening was difficult. We love this gate. It has held up through daily use and a toddler riding back and forth on it. It is just plastic at the catch and I had my doubts so I looked up replacement parts pricing for the catch on the wall and it’s like 8$. So I thought that even if it does come off the wall it’s easy to replace. That hasn’t been an issue. It’s easy to open for adults and my 2 year old hasn’t figured it out at all. It opens and closes easily and soundlessly and it opens up the entire space at the top of the stairs to walk through. My husband thanked me for finding and installing this gate after the ones we’ve had before. Love it.

We had to separate our two pets so that they don't kill each other. This works wonderfully for our two elderly cats. It helps that there is nothing nearby for them to climb and jump over as the gate is plenty tall. The lock mechanism is very good and with the fact that the door swings both ways it's very easy to use.The only funny thing to mention is once one of our cats was still groggy after sedation and he somehow managed to get through the gate. We think it was underneath, but as he hasn't done it since, so we figure he won't again.

Easy Swing and Lock gate is awesome and easy to open and close. I'm so happy I finally broke down and bought a hardware installed gate, my pressure gates are such a pain, and not reliable. I only wish I would have bought one sooner, it saves so much hassle. I like that the entire gate swings, others I researched have a tiny door, and we're not tiny people. I took away one star for material quality and durability because the latch and mounting hinges are mostly plastic. They have held up for the first few weeks, I hope they last. The install is a bit challenging and not for someone clueless about assembly or tools, but once it's in, it's wonderfully worth the effort!UPDATEAs of 7/2019 we have had 18 months of rigorous use and the gate and latch are still functioning as good as the day I installed it. We're very happy with this gate and recommend it to all our friends with pets and or kids.
