The provided screws were not self-tapping for sure. They would've been great for a wood door or a thinner metal door. Our door required some heavier duty screws. Still giving the product 5 stars though, because the functionality is top-notch. We've had it installed at our office for a week with no issues. We get very light traffic, three full time employees, and a part-time employee with very little visitors except on occasion. Unsure about durability in the long-term, but first impressions are good! The speed at which can be adjusted is acceptable, the product feels solid, and I am very happy so far!

The Onarway Automatic Door Closer works okay overall. It’s not a top-of-the-line unit, so it performs about as expected for its category, with a few limitations depending on the door setup. Noise Level: When adjusted for a soft close, it is fairly quiet and smooth. However, if you increase the strength to fully close heavier doors, it can become quite loud and slam shut. Security: It does help keep doors closed, especially for light use and preventing kids from leaving doors open. However, on heavier or wind-affected doors, it sometimes struggles to fully latch without stronger settings. Appearance: The silver finish looks clean and modern. It blends in well with most residential doors and doesn’t stand out too much once installed. Ease of Use: Installation was straightforward, and the basic adjustments are easy enough to understand. However, there are limited tuning options, which makes dialing in the perfect close a bit frustrating. Weight: It works better on lighter doors or interior-use scenarios. On heavier exterior doors, it feels underpowered unless set to a more aggressive (and noisy) closing force. Durability: It seems decently built for the price, but I’m not sure how it will hold up long-term under heavier use or constant adjustments. Overall, it does what it’s supposed to do, especially for light-duty doors. I just wish it had more adjustment settings to better balance quiet operation with enough force to consistently close and latch exterior doors, especially in light wind.

I decided to try this for auto closing the heavy fire door at the interior entry to my garage. It's a heavy door and I need it kept closed to keep pets in and also for fire protection. Installation had some hiccups - caused by yours truly! Be sure to use the instruction sheet for the exact location you are installing this door closer - on the inside or the outside of the door. It can go on either side but I first chose the wrong one lol. Re-did it and it works exactly as intended. thanks!

Very easy to install, works great. Just know that it will make the door harder to open. But it will close slowly and securely

Easy too install but doors became heavy to pull when this is installed. I am afraid some old.people.won't be able to pull the door due to the hardness. I did try to set different settings but it's still hard to pull

Installation was surprisingly painful. They give 6 different ways to install it and it’s difficult to tell which you need. This device comes with four different screws/bolts but none are labeled or mentioned in the instructions so you’re left to guess which ones go where. In terms of the instructions, they’re ok until a step where you’re supposed to adjust the length of the arm. It really wasn’t clear what I was supposed to do. It also assumes you can be on either side of the door while it’s closed. In my case it was a pantry and you can’t fit in there with the door closed to measure how long the arm should be. That meant it was a trial and error to change the length and try the door. Each time you do this, it’s a massive pain because you have to hold the arm at tension, line it up and screw in a tiny bolt. I had to do this probably 8 times until my door would close. In the end I was satisfied with the operation once it was installed. I put it on the slowest setting that would still let the door latch and everything has worked fine on it. My kids have difficulty opening the door now but can still open it. That may be a bigger issue for others but I’m ok with it. This is mentioned in the listing but it bears repeating: there’s no way to disengage the closer and leave the door open. I ended up buying a separate door stop that attached to the bottom of the door and that holds it fine.

Schrauben mit ordentlichen Düberln nehmen! Montage zur Zweit ist ein Vorteil (habe es alleine gemacht), weil es ein bisschen kompliziert ist ihn festzuhalten, markiere wo zum Bohren etc....aber es geht. Mein Eingangstür, 90 cm schwere Holztür von 1960, schliesst nun endlich....weil meine Tochter tut es nicht!

I needed a door closer with slow closing and easy opening. This product is perfect.

This door closer does the job, the instructions for installation are very clear and they have templates for all possible configurations. Just 4 screws needed for the main unit and 2 for the arm. There are different sized screws included, and it even includes the drill bit you need for the holes. Installation took about 14 minutes to mark up the template, drill the holes, screw it in and adjust it. There are two adjusters for closing speed - one for the last 20 degrees or so and one for the rest. The unit is good quality aluminium body and steel arms, it should last years.

Good quality and does 99% of the job. Cannot get the door to fully latch closed. Tried all suggestions in the instructions.
